I've been to every home Premiership game this season and it was not the 4 games we've lost so far at home that set alarm bells ringing for me but one of the few we won - the 2-0 against Aston Villa. Aston Villa are relegation certainties with all the decent players they've sold and we barely managed to beat them 2-0 back in October. Make no mistake, we are true relegation candidates the way we've been performing in the Premiership so far and the Premiership table never lies at this stage of the season. We've got to beat Sunderland on Saturday in what is now a relegation zone mini league.

To be fair i dont think Falcao will ever fit Mourinhos system of play. He needs to be provided so i dont think he will ever be a success. Having said that i dont think we can blame him, he's barely had a chance so i pretty much would blame Costa if i had to blame a striker.

As for beating sunderland, i believe they've become our bogey team along with Big Sam so it might not be as simple as it seems

......if we don't beat Sunderland then we may well be in the relegation zone for Christmas. At the end of the day, Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea board will be thinking long and hard about this current underperforming Chelsea team and about Jose Mourinho. Jose Mourinho has already been given a 'vote of confidence'. This is the worst start to a top flight season since 1978.

Did they not start the rot by being the first team to beat a Mourinho Chelsea team at home?

....indeed, had we beaten Sunderland then Norwich at home at the end of that season then we would have pipped Manchester City to the title.

Ridiculous to sack the best manager ever in the premiership. Endorsed by the vast majority of posters here only a few months ago :bandit:

    No you are right.
    It would be ridiculous.......without question.
Yet the results are plain to see....
I have stated I don't particularly blame Mourinho to be honest, but since when has Abramovich been reasonable when it comes to sacking managers?

Do i think we'll go down??

    No.

But did i think we'd still be down in this position come december?

    Not a chance.

Its entirely possible that form doesnt change and we stay this way all season. The fact that we're talking this way shows how shambolic this season has been.

My issue is that regardless of whether we stay up or not (did i just type that??!?) It was joses rigidty and stubbornness that has gotten us into this position. In 2 seasons time the same issues will likley appear.

I want jose to stay, i want jose to succeed but he HAS to change. If he starts costa or fabregas this weekend, regardless of result:

    He has to go

What has he been rigid and stubborn about?

Absolutely no chance that you'll go down. In fact you'll win your next two matches and fevriul will be telling everyone he was right as you still have a chance of winning the league.

What team have you been watching?

    Same formation
    Same underperforning players
    Same tactics
Same old refusal to play young talented players.

Its a "fahkt" he's done this to himself mate!

    1st game of the season:

    Chelsea starting lineup (4-2-3-1):
Thibaut Courtois | Cesar Azpilicueta,John Terry, Gary Cahill, Branislav Ivanovic | Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic | Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian |Diego Costa

    Against leicester:

    Chelsea starting lineup (4-2-3-1):
Thibaut Courtois | Cesar Azpilicueta,John Terry, Kurt Zouma, Branislav Ivanovic | Nemanja Matic, Ramires |Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian | Diego Costa

With fabregas coming on in the second half!!!

Weve plummeted to this position over 5 months and watched more or less the same team underperform week in week out.

If that doesnt indicate stubborness and rigidity what the hell does!?!

    Fixed

And who is he supposed to replace these players with?
The Fabregas issue I kinda agree with. We should have signed a midfielder in the summer.
Whether the funds weren't there or Mourinho felt it wasn't needed, we dont know.
Is he supposed to just dump Costa out of the side forever?
Hazard was dropped in the Villa game, but maybe Jose is thinking, I don't know, that maybe he is a great player and he wants to give him a chance to find some form? Possibly?
Remy had some injuries earlier in the season and was out for a while, maybe he wasn't match fit.

I don't know, maybe I am making excuses, I just cannot comprehend why the same players, tactics and formation that won the league by 8 points all of a sudden put us in the relegation zone....it makes no sense.
Its not like Van Gaal at United, where he has purchased a lot of new players, that have achieved nothing in this team in the past and he is trying to find a winning combination. We had that combination already......
These are the reigning champions ffs.

Sorry mate, i have to agree with George. It's clear the current players aren't playing well. Whether its cause they are longer in the tooth or can't be arsed is not a reason. He should be changing it up so either make those players hungrier or just because what hes doing now isn't working and hasnt been working for a while.

I'd be more than happy to give traore, kennedy, RLC a go over some of the lot who are currently playing.

Agree with the highlighted part. I want Jose to stay and get it right. Certain players should go before Jose.

If we were having a bad period and were down in 8th place then I would agree.
But these same players won the title.
How do you go from that to relegation candidates in a few months?
