biggest game of season for me as live near Brighton. Praying we start with Charlie and jet otherwise yet again can't see where goals going to come from.
I would be staggered if the tactics were changed for the Brighton game. We will be playing the top side who are in great form
Can't wait. Over for my first game of the season. Being entertained by a couple of business associates. Should be a good game. Hopefully Charlie will start.
Surely we cannot start yet another home game without at least 1 recognised striker on the pitch? Can we?
Austin still has a calf strain according to the Sunday Times. Or perhaps we are wrapping him in cotton wool so we can sell him in January. I may be in a minority but I don't think we've seen enough of Polter to have a negative view of him.
I assure you we can and probably will. If Austin can't start then play JET. If JET is deemed too crap/lazy, at least Polter has some sort of presence up there. What happened to Reece Grego-Cox?
I suspect we are indeed wrapping Austin in cotton wool in order to sell him in January. I must admit, I'm not keen on this false nine bollocks. Get JET or Polter up there if Austin isn't going to start, with a couple of wide players with some pace. Simples! This would do: ------------------------------------------Green----------------------------------- Perch----------------Onuoha-------------------Hall-------------Konchesky ----------------------------Sandro--------------Faurlin------------------------- Phillips-----------------------------------Fer-----------------------------Hoilett -----------------------------------Austin/JET/Polter----------------------------
Yep must start with two strikers imo. Austin, poultry, jet combo. Brighton do seem very lucky and Zamora seems to have lots luck with ball landing at his feet in front of goal or penalty. Another side for the raking. 100% go for it.
At the moment I think Brighton are a cut above, Hughton pulled a stroke getting Wilson on loan and you can guarantee OBZ will save one for us. It'll be a tough night...
But even Brighton will lose sometime, and it won't necessarily be against a top 6 side (I'm assuming here that we aren't, currently, a top 6 potential side!) Talking of getting a result, what odds would you have got on Bournemouth winning at Stamford Bridge and then beating Man Utd?
If JFH plays the right formation we can get a result, I just think Brighton are a very good team who have a manager who has won the division previously and knows what it takes. The fact they have often come from behind shows they are a side with bottle as well, as I said, it'll be a tough one...
So Ramsey is sacked as the remit has changed to getting promotion. What other club would sell their main striker if they were pushing for promotion. Secondly what kind of striker are we likely to pick up in January if that is the plan? If we are seriously considering pushing for promotion we need to keep Charlie until the end of the season even if that means he goes on a free. Wrapping him in cotton wool to sell him is a joke. He should play every second we can get out of him and tell him he's going nowhere.
How soul destroying must it be for the likes of JET, Poulter and G-C not to get game time (or even bench time) and the manager choose to prefer to play without a striker.
in an ideal world (and if we are only going to have 1 max striker up front) we should sell Austin in January for a price that will buy us a very good striker, who is better able to play the lone striker role than Austin is.
JFH has come out and said that he's not fully over his calf strain so the conspiracy theory angle is just supposition really. Yes he's being wrapped up in cotton wool but only cos he's not fully fit. I can't remember who said it but...... If you look hard enough you can see things that are not really there.
Totally agree, JFH has stated that he doesn't want to lose Charlie. Its a tough start for JFH first two games against two of the divisions best sides, while he is trying to get his style of play across to the players, during the start of a congested run of fixtures, and building fitness levels of players. It would have been far worse, playing expansive attacking football, and losing. This would have eroded confidence in JFH and a downward spiral for the club (again). There are more than enough games/points left for us to build slowly, and reach the playoffs. Lets give JFH time to build confidence of players in him and his approach, and steadily build throughout the season.
