Got my tickets booked for 17/12 to see Star Wars. I'm like a little kid again looking forward to this immensely.

28th for us. The missus is beside herself with excitement! She's a real sci-fi nerd and obviously therefore a wierdo!!!

I'm expecting it to be poor for no other reason than I loved the original 3 and they put them back in the cinemas in the 90's so i got to see them in my teens on the big screen. Then when they brought out "Episode 1" in the late 90's I had high expectations and it was like watching Newcastle in the derby though possibly more painful and predictable.

If I keep my expectations low then there's a chance I may enjoy it. JJ Abrams has done it (I think) and I think the recent Star Trek films have been excellent.

Has anyone seen the hobbit movies.

I have seen one with gollum at the end and also the one with the git big dragon just waking up. But ive no ideas which ones they are.

Have i seen 1 and 2 or 2 and 3?

watched them recently - found them a tad disappointing especially part 3 - preferred the books likewise as Lord Of the Rings the books are better

They were not as good as lord of the rings. But which bloody ones have i seen?

Lord of the Rings deserved to be three films, even with bits cuts out it's pretty hard to tell the story and faster. It felt grand and everything about it seemed polished and measured.

The Hobbit... you could read it in the time it takes to watch the trilogy. It screams of a money-spinning exercise to me, they knew they would have the audience and embellished it quite a bit. The first was decent, though not as good as any of the LotR films (even Return of the King which never really worked for me even in the book), it goes downhill after that. They're a good spectacle but it seems very much style over substance and the style is no longer that impressive after 5 previous similarly done films.

It's not crap, but it is much much less than the sum of its parts.

Cant argue with that.

I thought it was ok. Kind of tied it all together.

Mind in your op you were not overly impressed with american sniper which i rate highly.

I don't remember anything great about American Sniper, it was glorified yank trollop for most of the film... With one or two Hollywood shots. Compared to Lone Survivor or Fury which I watched around the same time, it was total rat ****.
