Has one thing in common, plenty of home fans moaning incessantly about everything. But the lack of fans is a real shame, Italian football is in a bad way. Though all the 4 teams I've seen are trying to play attacking football, and Chievo have an excuse for small fan base, it's actually a small suburb of Verona forced to play at an outsize stadium.

1:1 coming up to half time.

2-2, Udinese by far the better team but pegged back by a wonder strike from outside the box. I have now seen 9 goals in less than 2 games of football in Italy. So much for stereotypes.

3-2 Udinese, plus a disallowed goal for Chievo. Great entertainment and at €20 a ticket (for Milan too) I don't understand why there aren't more people in the Stadium.

Back tomorrow morning then off to Vienna for work on Wednesday. What's your next home game? I should get off my arse and come down soon. These little trips remind me how much I love this game, recharge my addiction. Great entertainment today and yesterday.

I remember reading about Chievo back in the late 90s, they came from nowhere to win promotion through the divisions to Serie 'A' and were top of the table for a couple of months in their first season in the top division, it won them Worldwide publicity at the time.

They were given an insulting name by the fans of Hellas Verona who were the established top-flite club in the city, 'The Flying Donkeys' and I believe they adopted it as their nickname and it is on their crest, a heart-warming tale of a Wimbledon-style team punching perpetually above their weight. Perhaps we could take a leaf out of their book...

Got it, I'll have a look tomorrow afternoon, though I very much doubt I can improve your pitch. Catch you soon sir.

Early flight tomorrow and complicated trip back to Milan from Verona - train breakdown, little communication a great Italian experience, I laughed as my mates got wound up. Then mellowed out with a shift from beer to red wine back in Milan. I cant recommend doing something like this once in a while strongly enough, The booze isn't compulsory.
