Happy with a draw given the ludicrous timing of the game.
All in all, a pretty cr*p game of football with neither side really establishing a rythym and giving the ball away repeatedly.
Negatives:
- Rose and Walker were both rested on Thursday and needed to be on top of their games today. I thought both were pretty underwhelming, picking up yellow cards early on and more or less sticking to the half way line from then on.
- Mason clearly lacks match sharpness still. That or he's on his way to becoming the next Jenas (being left behind while the team overall improves rapidly).
- Kane and Eriksen looked half dead on their feet. Our lack of cover for the former in particular is increasingly worrying.
- Given that Eriksen has one of the best deliveries in the PL, I cannot fathom how or why our corners remain so lamentably poor. We might as well just give the ball to the goalkeeper and resume from a goal kick - at least that way our defence won't be caught up the pitch. I wonder if there is a rule where one side can waive the right to corner kicks?
Positives:
- Avoided a potential upset. I disagree that Chelsea are 'turning the corner'. I think they came for the draw and got a draw. Against a full strength Spurs side I think they'd be travelling home with nothing. Fabricarse, Matic, Oscar and Pedro are shadows of the players they can be.
- Broken the unbeaten record which is an incredible achievement for a manger in his 2nd season at the club.
- Finally kept a clean sheet - it's been a while!
- We've successfully navigated what looked like our trickiest month of the calendar with 3 london derbies and 2 tough EL games including the trip to Neptune. The players now have a good week to freshen up for what is a very winnable run of fixtures in December, including the one I'm most looking forward to: Newcastle at home.
- Hugo had a couple of dodgy kicks today but that save from Hazard was out of this world, simple as. He must've learned that technique from someone on Neptune.
Now, over to Norwich and Swansea to keep things interesting!
