Score was 1 - 0 to QPR 86 min ..... our defence is solid and you would have thought we were the Championship team .... QPR put out their strongest team tonight and boy are they in trouble ..... the icing on the top of the cake ..... Exeter lost 3 - 0 lol
For a well advertised testimonial....for a well liked player.........do you think that 5021 spectators did justice to Romain.......what are your thoughts. Many fans are not happy at present.........but this was a special night for a well loved player............should they have put their feelings to one side and turned out and show there appreciation to his club loyalty.
5021 disappointing, some people have short memories it seems, pretty sure it wasn´t Le Keeper who got the club into this mess doesn´t bode well for next seasons attendances.
Well I was stuck in work for the evening but it sounds like it was a good match. Anyone in particular outstanding (except Larrieu of course)? Fingers crossed the support will bulk up for the start of season, if the new team starts strong the fair weather fans may start to come back. COYG!
I've solved the killer cat from next door problem.......the Woodpeckers and Jays have got protection...........I have acquired a Nerf Super Soaker Thunderstorm water cannon,Argos selling them at half price only cost £9.99. It has a deadly range of 25 feet, you can buy extra water clip containers which you can clip onto your belt,it's battery powered so you don't have to waste time pumping the pressure up. They didn't have these when my kids were young luckily..........must hide it from the grandchilren when they come around.......just waiting for the black killer to appear........the wife is worried that I might upset the lady next door..........I told her that won't happen........she'll have to buy her own cannon, she aint borrowing mine.
I'm a bit surprised that there isn't a bit more on here about last nights match. I went and took my bodyguard (son)with me. Firstly I was a little surprised at the price. £14 for an adult ticket. Yes it was a testimonial and reasonable opposition but I still think that was a lot to ask people to pay. I had expected around £10 and this may have contributed to some not going. However, 5000 was pretty reasonable in my book as we often do not do well in what people see as friendly matches. As for the match itself, there were few scoring opportunities for either side. It was slightly flattering to QPR that they actually won the match and it had to happen almost at the end didn't it. Argyle created every bit as much as they did and probably had more chances than them overall. There were some good performances although I should have taken pen and paper with me to remember who was who in a line up that was 3 parts alien to me. Some of the players on show looked to have some decent promise. You will have to fill in the names yourselves on this. In particular the No.7 looked pretty decent as did the No. 11. No.11 was taken off the ball a bit not being strong enough in possession but was always looking for the ball and was not afraid to ask for it. A little bit like Noone when he first arrived. The No.5 was solid all night. I thought it was Reda Johnson returned to be honest. He looked about the same size, was left footed and did very well to contain their forward line. Zubar was Zubar and did well as did the other full back, Williams I think. None of them put much of a foot wrong. A great number of youngsters and comings and goings with subs. None of them looked out of place on the pitch to be fair and the overall performance was very encouraging. As my son said after the game, give me youngsters any time who are kean and hungry to learn over your bog standard journeyman types who could not give a fig very often once the ink is dried on the contract. I think Reid will have a half decent squad come kick off and something he can work with and build. We are going to see a few whipped away if they look any good during the season probably because of the financial situation but that is the way it is. If Reid can then find another one and another one we will not only be financially sound but an attraction for many who will see Argyle as a good place to start out and build a career. Overall not the ost exciting night of football but was pleasant to see a committed side who were far from overawed by the opposition despite some tender ages. Out of ten I would give them eight.
sensible, this may be a woman thing who knows but I don't do testimonials or friendlies, the reason for this is I enjoy the break from football in the summer and none of it counts anyway. During the autumn, winter and spring I have to take my son to his matches where I remain to cheer him on and then bring him home, coupled with fortnightly trips to HP by the end of the season I've had enough, so much so that I refuse to do football-related stuff either with my son (other than training once a week and the odd friendly) or anyone else. I enjoy the break from it and by the time the new season arrives I'm refreshed and ready to start all over again. Of course I wish Larriou well and I'm happy we played well but at the end of the day it's not to be taken too seriously as the QPR manager might well have been playing around with players' positions and using subs.
Blimey Plymborn, cat stalking with a hi-tech water canon. Now I think there's a business opportunity in there............
Bit touchy there Madam........................I did say previously on a post a millenium ago that I don't normally do pre-season either. But, as this was a testionial and I was curious to see who was who and what they were like I took the opportunity. I agree it is meaningless to a great extent. I think that QPR put out a pretty strong line up though and Argyle did do well. I think QPR are a few players short of anywhere near a premiership line up though and unless they get a few in will more than struggle. The above from me was nowhere near a dig at anyone not going. I merely thought that somebody would have put something on here by way of a report as is usual. I did say that 5000 was a reasonable turnout but thanks for the report on your private life it was most interesting.......... I don't have to take anyone to their sports these days thank god but have been there and have the T Shirt as they say.
They didn't have water pistols like this when I was a kid, only ones with rubber bulb type ends that you had to take off, and fill with water and then prise back on and squeeze the water up through the barrel..........don't know why we bothered.
Private life? Where exactly?? Nothing private about taking my son to football matches lol! Oh just for the record sensible, your post wasn't taken as a "dig" just clarifying why I'm out of football during the summer months, don't read so much into it!
Hiya Mrs Reid I know what you mean about having a break .... I havent had one yet .... think I have next weekend off woo hoo lol ..... havent you any friendlies coming up ?
Yes GAT he has a friendly tomorrow so I'm trudging out to Staddiscome but I do draw the line at summer tournaments. Apolgies to sensible for going personal on here
