That's it Yorkie - there is actually some debate about this but for the Hebrews it was like 'swearing on the seed of Abraham` - making an oath could also be made holding the testicles of the person being sworn to ! From which the words to testify and testament are thought to have arisen - but there are other theories on this. Over to you !
So that's what Vinnie Jones was doing - swearing an oath! All this time I was convinced that he was just being a thug...... please log in to view this image
Who was the first Watford manager to begin and end his role in the same calendar year? And why am i asking this today?
Colin Lee in 1990 and today (24 November) was his last match in charge. I believe it was also Ossie Ardiles' last match in charge of Newcastle Utd whom we played at St James Park on that day, losing 0-1 to a late Mick Quinn (yes really) goal after a Gary Porter missed penalty. The attendance, on a bitterly cold day on Tyneside, was 13,774 (giving the lie to the oft-trumpeted "loyalty" of the Toon Army). Once again, I was there - the coldest match I ever watched (and I was one of the 2,298 at the Associate Members Cup Tie v. Torquay Utd in Jan 1997 when the snow was falling through the gaps in the Main Stand roof).
Just warmed up now after all this time. OK, why was St James Park involved in the recent First Round of the FA Cup?
I'll give this one to you mein kolche horn, you are half right. St James Park is indeed the home of Brackley Town, but it was Newport County with whom they played out a 2-2 draw, losing 4-1 in the replay. Over to you. Apologies for the pseudo-deutsche!
Vic......It's meine Kölsch Hornisse ! Kölsch is actually the name of the Beer, the dialect of Cologne and also the people born there. Consuming large quantities of the beer helps with speaking the dialect (causal effect) I am actually married to a Kölsch Madel. Ok. I can be up to 88 metres high and 50 metres wide - my length has no restrictions, what am I and where ?
First clues.....the 88 metres height limit and the width limit of 50 metres are the maximum measurements. Many are under this but exceeding these would involve a very long journey. From the 88 metres normally only about 68 would be actually visible.
On average there are 47 of us in this place at one time. All of us within the measurements already given.
