Yeah, it's reasonably safe. There is a thread, however, suggesting that we need four more pacey wingers and three good proven 20+ goal a season centre forwards, or something. You might want to give that a swerve.

I'm still waiting for the perfect time to launch my "does anyone still actually wish we were in the Europa League" thread. It'll be carnage.

GB Davis Cup team delayed trip to Belgium (obviously). I'll be so disappointed if it gets cancelled, which sounds pitiful when you consider what has gone on...but isn't that what life is about. Ordinary people being able to enjoy ordinary lives...with music, art, eating, drinking and sport. These innocent pleasures are what IS seek to deprive people of.

I think a lot will depend on what happens in Belgium this week. I imagine that the Belgian people would prefer their police to be on the lookout for terrorists in Brussels rather than guarding tennis players and crowds. Having said that, I really hope the finals go ahead.

I always remember with pride the thousands who turned out in central London to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII just three days after the 7/7 bombings. The best way to stick two fingers up at the terrorists.

Just watched Adele from the other day on BBC. It must be fantastic to be able to sing like that. She still seems so down to earth too. If you haven't seen it she does a brilliant bit of acting as Jenny at the Adele impersonators audition.

Just realised it's my old dentist who has been killed in the helicopter crash in New Zealand. There just seems to be nothing but bad news at the moment. :(

Yes, I read about that earlier. When I lived in NZ we made a point about climbing the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. Sure they are tourist attractions, but going up them both on foot really brings home to you how dangerous they actually can be. All the time there were helicopters and aircraft going to and fro, even when the weather was less than perfect. We came down when the weather started to close in, and I understand it was the bad weather that may have caught the pilot out just this once. Seeing the picture of the wreckage wedged in the glacier brought a lot of that back to me. I'm sorry about your dentist. By all accounts he and his partner were decent people who loved life. The released family statement said a lot about them all.

Managed to finish watching the earlier episodes of The Detectorists this evening, so now I'm upto date. As mentioned before, it's a rare jewel of a programme, but one of the loveliest things is the Johnny Flynn performed song. Here's the original soundtrack:

or if you like something a little purer, here he performs it on acoustic metal guitar:

It accompanies the series very well.

Thanks for that, TSS. Nice start to the day.

Right, time for a name change, any suggestions? Want something I can stick with permanently so nothing player related <laugh> I was thinking something maybe Markus related? The Legacy Of Saint Markus or something like that ? Any ideas?

I just had to wade through my old phone's pictures looking for a shot for one of my franchisees and I found a couple that brought back Saints memories. Bittersweet.

Five minutes after the end of the Coventry game. I've said it before and I'll say it again, many of the Coventry fans, despite being relegated, stayed to watch and cheer our celebrations. That showed real class.

Within thirty seconds of taking this happy pic of the biggest snowman I've ever seen, someone phoned me to say Nigel had been sacked. I didn't believe him. It spoiled the walk home. Still a great snowman, though.
