Sorry Ted, I had to edit your post due to complaints. Can you exercise a bit more caution in what you post and what terminology you use please. Thank you.

I'm prepared to give Ted the benefit of the doubt here. Although what he posted was unsavoury he's a new poster and may not be aware of the forum rules compared to the site he's migrated from. The other mitigating factor is that this is a 'strong' thread with a highly emotive event and issues being discussed. There are some robust post on here and given the nature of the thread they should be expected.

well im not really up on polotics to me if somebody wants to kill us then im confused in 1939 it was of course more simple, the germans blew us up and bomber harris bombed and destroyed many cities killing women and children
and the american sorted out the kamakazi idea by dropping an atom bomb
    #
so for me a complete idiot it would seem,a simple EYE FOR AN EYE AND TOOTH FOR A TOOTH BUT IFR WE HASD USED THAT POLICY ASGAINST THE IRA WE WOULD STILL TO THIS DAY BE GETTING BLOWN UP TO
THIS DAY BUT IM NOT HAPPY TO BE A CALLED A RACIST I WAS BORN IN SHEPARDS BUSH HALF MY FRIENDS ARE JAMAICAN AND ATHOUGH IM A WHITE MAN MOST OF MY GIRLS FRIENDS WERE BLACK SO PLESASE DONT CALL ME A RACIST
erm im a bit too old to understand the true concept of what is happening but lets say that ten posters on here were angry those same ten posters go to qpr with there choldren and each and every one of you get blown up by muselum terrorists killing your children im not say you will be angry with the muslim terrorists but maybe you then understand
why the americans wiped out the japenese or why bomber harris blew up the germans so could we continue this debate
so either i get educated enough to understand the situation or whether we can debate without the racist card being used
BUT APOLOGIES TO ANY PEOPLE WHO MAY BE BLACK WHO USED THIS MESSAGE BOARD AS MY INTENSION WAS NOT TO BE A RACIST TOWARDS BLACK PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY

Imo. the only thing which can stop ISIS is if their flow of funds from Saudi Arabia and Quatar is stopped - and yet we are delivering tanks to the one and World Cups to the other. Why are we not applying more pressure on these countries ?

I actually think that the people of this country don't have the ruthless streak that was prevalent in the thirties.
I've said it before. In my opinion the people of the West have been softened up by years of relative peace and the politically correct "after you Claude" attitudes of today mean that we're in big trouble.

Add to that the fact our soldiers can end up being charged with murder for killing fanatical scumbags, I don't see any great prospect of meeting 'fire with fire'...

Agreed if you need to fight then you need total focus every single time
The fact that the Government needs to win a vote to act nowadays just shows how weak we have become

The problem is we see this everyday in our workplaces ... We debate things to death before any action as if we have any control of the future

I also think people are more selfish - if we had a major incident the biggest number of casualties would be those crushed in the stampede.....

    Point taken.
But I watched last week's question time with absolute despair as so many audience members voiced their concerns about taking any action against isis for fear of what they may do in return.
I've never heard so much defeatist bollocks.
Look what's happening in Belgium. We are at war and people need to wake up to that fact and get their heads out of the sand!

Does anyone stop to think about where all these weapons come from ? How do Kalashnikovs and other weapons arrive in the hands of these people - to be honest there are actually some neighbours of mine who I would not trust with one of these. Major weapons exporters are USA 31%, Russia 27%, Germany 5%, France 5%, China 5%, UK. 4% - as long as war is big business for someone, somewhere, then these problems will continue in some form.

Absolutely. No argument with that. Hopefully one day we will learn the lessons of history, but I'm not holding my breath!!

Agreed. War is great for business!!! Think of all the re-building contracts too, consultant contracts, financial deals etc. It is more than 'just' the weapons though getting rid of that trade might help more.

Are the weapons sold on credit? Probably not. So close down the money supply - bits of it, the looting, especially of banks, is hard to do, but the oil surely we can do something to stop it getting into the supply chain (blowing up the oil fields one option) but at the moment every gallon of fuel you buy may be contributing to Daesh. Finally the 'donors' many in the Gulf states. Make their lives a misery.

Just saw on the news some nutter slashed a guy in an underground station in East London while shouting "This is for Syria". Police tasered him and made an arrest. Pity it didn't happen over here in the states, he would have been shot 276 time!
