With the exception of Highbury, every effort seems to have been made to replace the old grounds with either nothing or ****. I reckon with zero architecture and design qualifications or skills I could do a better job on those retail parks and identikit houses than whoever did them. Of course, the site of the Victoria Ground needs to be sealed off and left to decontaminate for 400 years.
If anyone's watching the FA Cup game on BT Sport tonight, you'll see a true 'Then AND Now' ground. York Road is the oldest sole-occupier ground in the world. Maidenhead United moved there in 1871 (a year after being formed) and have played there ever since. That's 144 years at the same home. Let's hope the Magpies can do the place proud and turn over Port Vale, setting up a nice trip down to Exeter in the next round.
the new kid on the block gets 10, although I will admit done this a while back on another forum. The Villa/Rangers one done me last time too
C'mon Maidenhead......1-1 after almost 40 minutes......... Lived in the town for 15 years from the mid 80's.......lovely part of the country.....
