3.45 Bath: ARNOLD LANE 11/4 If we get anything near an 11/4 price I will be amazed. He looks at least a grade above the rest of these, Channon seemed excited about bringing him back and has the best form in the field.

Red Agressor, who was 2nd behind Arnold Lane on debut, got within 6L of POWER in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot and Arnold Lane looked unlucky in a muddling Beverley race. Although that race did not work out as well as expected, Arnold Lane should have enough in hand to land this.

I think he'd improve for a step up to 6f but I think he will pull clear in the final furlong here today.


3.20 Sandown: HAWFINCH 9/2 Stayed on in most eyecatching fashion behind Lily's Angel, who continues to frank the form. Extra furlong very much in her favour here and looks good value.

Best of luck folks, see if we can find a bit of form leading up to King George Saturday!

2 Magnusson horses both won and both heavily gambled with 2 NRs :laugh:

Morning, people. Must ask why, on earth, do we need 6 meetings today??? Anyway I will recommend:

Crowning Star (2.35 Bath) - my regular readers will know that I have been a fan of this horse since his promising 3rd in the Brocklesbury back in March. They will also fondly recall him winning well at Lingfield Park some 15 days ago. Gets in this heat with a mark of 61 which looks more than reasonable to this correspondent. Think he
can gain his second win of the term here today.

Wallis (7.55 Doncaster) - this filly won 3 on the bounce for 'King' Kieren and Mr Cumani prior to finishing 3rd in a very hot handicap at Newmarket last month. The 2nd home that day was Sir Michael's Heavenly Dawn (what a lovely name for a filly by the way) who won with ease at the weekend and looks destined, in my opinion, for the top. Wallis meets nothing of that calibre tonight and I would expect her to resume winning ways this evening. A step up in grade may then be on the cards for this useful filly.

The more optimistic out there might like to note that the double, at the moment, pays 9/1 .

Morning all
very wet yesterday at Catterick but still good day
Dappers Dancer is not going to Macdonalds (very naughty GDC) BUT she is going to the old farm, Chris Dawson's Farm where she was born. We are still a syndicate, Chris offered every body there stake back to buy her back but we all declined. The plan is to let her rest and feed her up over the winter.
The Jockey Sean Levey was excellent he got of her, and stayed with us for 10 mins in the parade ring, 1st thing he said was dont be optomistic, she is very weak. got out great and travelled well had a few of the bridle at the corner, asked her for a bit more and went flat/weak he said. Ground not troubled her or the track (which did last time) so a few positives and we leave with a plan, an excellent handicap potential and we still in the game

David Omeara was just as upset as he continues to state she has great potential, he has no probs with us takeing her out of training and wants her back for next year, he thinks mile and half straight away.

In all we had a great day, the don came up and sampled the wet conditions, he now knows the northern rainbows are black and white, but he like Dap will be back.

When she is my dear readers, you will know first, on the qt and very very Hush Hush

ps Valley of Hope was there yesterday to get a mark, wins next time, would have liked to have known this before the race as i backed it !!!!!

Excellent write-up there re Dappers Dancer.

The best piece of advice, people, may be to check for non-runners before wagering today. Due to the changes in the going, throughout the Isle, they currently stand at a huge 35!

Only 5 will run in the &#8216;King George&#8217; &#8211; Workforce, St Nicholas Abbey, Rewilding, Debussy and Nathaniel.

After all the slating that Ballydoyle took over running multiple horses in certain races this, and in other, season(s) with 1 purely as a pacemaker i look forward to the same posters rasing similar concerns about Godolphin's tactics for Saturday. Not holding my breath though.
 
Great news about Dapper, Heis. (Crikey, we bought a 5 year old that was still not ready for racing.)

She sounds like a very late maturer and being patient and taking her out of training sounds a good plan. With plenty of free exercise and grass she will probably be much happier and, I hope you don't think I'm poking my nose in but she is only 27months old and maybe she would benefit from Grow'n Win

You could follow the US trainers lead and feed her Guinness. After all, Guinness is good for you. (hopefully they will read this and send me some for the promotion!)
 
Morning all,

Another excellent day at Catterick. Thoroughly enjoyed the day and managed to not get too wet. Great to see Danbo and the others.

DD did much better and showed us something. As Danbo said, jumped very smartly, settled and travelled with ease. She had others off the bridle but couldnt sustain it. A bit of a shame she didnt track over to the rail with the other horses as she may have lost heart running down the centre on her own which was also the worst part of the track. Sean / Dave both very nice, genuine guys.

She's smart and has learned alot. She will get a handicap mark we might be able to work off.

She's going to be fed as much as she can eat over the next few months to try and get her bigger and stronger. She looked really well in the paddock, just a little bit lightweight and narrow for an out and out sprinter.

She'll be back, I think the Dawsons are confident they can get her right and improve her. I think they are confident she will be happier back at home and she'll get her confidence back. What she has shown at home is far better than we have seen on the course.

Good to hear you are both in fine spirits after a wet and windy day at Catterick, pleased you remain optomistic about Dappers Dancer and wish you and the syndicate all the very best for next season. Hope she comes back bigger, better and stronger.

Thanks for the invite, sorry i couldnt make it, however, things at work werent exactly great yesterday bad news was the order of the day, I even had to sacrifice a cricket net session, which wasnt because of the rain either, im not easily put off by wet weather im a rough, tough northern fella not a shandy drinking southern softie and im certainly no Richard or Patrick Head :emoticon-0105-wink:

Im not tough, tough, just tough when it comes to braving the elements, i love to feel the rain on my skin, the harder the better :emoticon-0105-wink: it keeps you in touch with nature.

And i wasnt reffering to all southerners being softies, just GDC :emoticon-0105-wink:
 
I say Sir Barney, not tipping up the Henderson horse today? Can understand it really, will struggle to give Aghill 7lbs, even with the champ in the plate.

My nap today has to go to the Twister's horse Goat Castle in the 2.55 at Uttoxeter. Had a pipe opener last month and I fancy him to go very close today.

Kinsale King wasn't it Nass? (and no I'm not being ironic before some smart alec jumps in) . The name escapes me but there was a horse competing in the 2008 Breeders' cup meeting that had the guiness diet and the commentators thought it was amazing in that way only American commentary and presentation teams can.....
