At the worst of Redknapp and Hughes I don't believe there was a worse PL team including the Derby side that got about eight points.
Whilst we weren't by any means brilliant, I think we played alright and did enough to take a point at least. Stoke defended well but we just lacked that killer pass or finish. Maybe I have my biased specs on, but how the hell was the Remy one not a pen either?! If you have to hurdle a player to stop being wiped out, and lose your balance accordingly, it's a foul...surely? Ref absolutely bottled that one. If 1 or 2 of these big decisions go our way in the last couple of weeks, the outlook would be looking a lot better in all likelihood. We obviously can't just rely on ref decisions but when you're struggling it doesn't help when they are going against you as well. The Lucas one last week for instance and the Fabregas goal v West Ham.
In all honesty, do you think the title is gone? one of you said that you are still in the hunt for it. But more seriously are you in the hunt for a 4th place? if you are then you have to start winning soon. City and Arsenal are definitely in there. United will keep challenging even though people keep criticising their style. Spurs will be there this time unless they suffer their usual dramatic mid late season collapse. Unless Chelsea start winning 3 points they will be out of it.
Title is definitely gone and top 4 is only an outside chance. I think there is a stat that if we obtain the same amount of points in our remaining games as we got last season (in the same amount of games), that would still not be a high enough points total to get top 4 based on the last 10 years. Personally I'm not even looking at our top 4 rivals now. We just have to string some wins together before even thinking that far ahead.
Are you having a laugh ?? Do we actually need to do a comparison or are you willing to admit you were taking the piss?
Bollocks sorry we are 3 wins off forth , **** it we go on a run and win the games by 10 points thats my prediction
Nope, if you have read any of my past posts you will know I fully expect you to turn things around. At the moment I think Europa will be your probable end position but, as you say, with a good run of games anything is possible.
The fact that the top 4 are so bunched up makes top 4 even more difficult. If that trend continues, it will mean at least 4 defeats for any of those top4 teams and Chelsea going on a winning run in the same period. To emphasise how difficult the title now is, it will need ALL top4 to go on a roll of 5 defeats. The Europa will be a realistic target though.
It's actually 13 points not 9. And do you honestly see us going on any kind of run at the moment?...and our rivals have to drop points during that period as well. We won't be this bad/unlucky all season but every time we've looked like turning a corner we go and lose the next match. As I say, I'll start thinking about top 4 again if/when we string a few results together. What's also a worry is that we normally struggle a bit during nov/dec anyway on top of what has been an awful start to the season. Our outside chance is that a few teams will be competing for the 4th place position and if they can all take points off each other there is an outside chance of making up the gap. But we'd need to be beating them as well and we've already lost to Liverpool, West Ham and Everton this season. The Spurs game coming up could be a big one.
No you are wrong, This is going to be a classic season, after given them a head start to make it interesting, we will make the biggest comeback since Dunkirsk , keep the faith young one
Hope so! Actually the dream scenario is finish 17th but win the C.L and deny Spurs C.L football againl!!
Sadly for you, that can no longer happen. There'd be 5 teams in CL. And if Pool win the Europa - would that be 6?
What about the outside chance of winning the Europa League? Drop into 3rd in the CL table and aim for that. Easier than doing it through the league or CL?
