But do we want him as a coach? At the risk of sounding like Jimmy, what credentials as he got that suggests he warrants a top coaching position at Liverpool?

Wouldn't give him a top coaching role. Should be in with the youth team to learn from other coaches and progress through that way.

im against ex pros just walking into top jobs, look at guardiola. Went in as Barca youth coach then stepped up when ready and is one of highly rated coaches in the world.

Would Gerrard accept that? I'm not convinced he would although if the chance of setting up was there then maybe he would.

I'm not convinced he would but then, if that is the case then so be it. As much as a legend as he is (as a player), we shouldn't be bending over backwards to recruit him again. If its a fit then go with it, if not then its not meant to be. No room for sentiment.

I think an ambassador role at academy level is perfect. Imagine trying to sign young local talent and Gerrard turns up at the door to talk to parents.

Yes but he's a year older and had a tough year in America, showing that he's not the player he was and I think he knows now he ant play 90 minutes every week.
 
I've heard that he has done his UEFA B coaching licence and is now working towards UEFA A, which would indicate he's serious about coaching.

Can anyone confirm?
