A HIBS fan who had a stand-off with a Rangers supporters' bus has accused rival fans of sparking the incident by spitting on his 10-year-old son.

Callum Laidlaw and his friend were accused of attacking the bus after footage of the incident emerged following Hibs' 2-1 Championship victory over Rangers on Sunday.

But the 34-year-old today refuted allegations he had attacked the bus and said he was trying to stop the vehicle so the police could be called.

Callum said he and son Alex were walking up Easter Road towards the ground ahead of the match when the bus stopped next to them and opened its doors.

A Rangers fan onboard spat into the crowd - hitting 10-year-old Alex on the body.

Callum explained: “We had just left the pub down the road and we were going up Easter Road just about to turn into Albion Road.

“I was chatting with my son when we noticed the bus pull up. They were all banging on the windows but then the door opened and we kind of thought ‘What on earth is going to happen here’.

“I saw that a guy spat out the bus and after we’d walked a few more steps my son said, ‘Dad, that spit hit me’. It was on his coat.

“I looked around for a policeman and there was absolutely none. We walked to the junction at the traffic lights and could see a van about 200 yards up the road. My dad said he’d go and get them.

“The bus was stopped at the lights so I went to the front of the bus and I went to the driver's side.

“I was trying to shout through the window ‘Can you stop? The police are coming’. But he was just shaking his head at me.

“Then, as you can see in the video, he starts to move very slowly at first while I’m still shouting at him to stop for the police but then he accelerates.

“I phoned the police after the game and they took a report. They’re coming to see me during the week.”

Callum Laidlaw insists he was only trying to halt the bus until police arrived

Callum, who is from Rosyth, Fife, added: “You can see a Buckfast bottle getting chucked out the driver’s window.

“The driver deliberately accelerated and was completely out of order. For one, he opened the door causing incitement and then chose to accelerate.

“Maybe he thought he was going to get in trouble because there was clearly alcohol on the bus when it’s not allowed.”

He has also raised concerns about the bus being on Easter Road in the first place as they usually arrive via London Road and are guided to the stadium by police.

The lifelong Hibs fan has also been forced to lock down his Twitter account after having abuse hurled at him and his family.

He said: “They’re sharing pictures of me with my 12-week-old child and there’s comments saying ‘This guy should have had his throat slit at birth’. I can’t believe how personal it’s getting.

‘Alex was a bit shaken at the time and concerned when he saw me in front of the bus. I avoided taking him to Hibs games when they played the bigger teams because of incidents like this for years.”

Chief Inspector Richard Horan of Police Scotland said: "We are currently investigating a report of a crime that involved a small number of fans ahead of Sunday's match (Nov 1) between Hibernian and Rangers.

"Shortly before 12:20pm an unknown male, who had been travelling on a Rangers supporters' bus, spat on a young Hibernian fan as he walked on Easter Road.

"This then led to a confrontation between fans on the street and those within the bus.

"Our enquiries into the full set of circumstances are ongoing however I would like to reassure the public that we will robustly investigate this incident to identify the offender."

How can I answer my own question? The questions was put to you, you cannot answer the question truthfully as the real answer is that you're an old obsessed **** who spends his entire life smoking weed and reading about Rangers.

Just admit that and everyone will have a tad more respect for you. As it is, you're mocked and derided by all and sundry on here and it's tragic to see a once proud man reduced to getting het up about some guys kicking a ball about.

    You are pondlife mate.

AN APPEAL court ruling on the Rangers tax case is set to be announced on Wednesday.

The Judiciary of Scotland has said the judgement will be available to read by lunchtime.

The case comes after HMRC launched a second appeal against earlier court decisions on payments made by former Rangers owner Sir David Murray before the club was liquidated.

The decision on the notorious “big tax case” will have no impact on the current regime at Rangers.

The Murray group has always maintained the payments - made through the now outlawed Employee Benefit Trusts from 2001 to 2010 - were loans and not taxable income.

In July 2014, a judge dismissed HRMC’s first appeal against a first-tier tribunal (FTT) majority verdict which had decreed that a £46.2m tax demand on Murray’s company, most of which referred to oldco Rangers, be “reduced substantially”.

Murray sold Rangers to Craig Whyte in May 2011, and the club was liquidated 13 months later over separate debts.

The club was relaunched as a new company now controlled by Dave King.

how long before this is re written? stupid ****s at the daily record don't know it was only the company that was liquidated and nothing whatsoever happened to the club

Rangers chairman Dave King faces December 9 court date in Mike Ashley battle.. meaning he could spend Christmas in jail

RANGERS boss Dave King could be banged up behind bars for Christmas when he appears in court on December 9.

A judge will decide if the Rangers chief should be jailed on a contempt charge for allegedly breaching a Sports Direct gagging order.

Lawyers for tycoon Mike Ashley are adamant that King should be jailed – and the Ibrox club hit with a fine – for a TV interview he did with Sky Sports’ Jim White at his Johannesburg home.

If King is convicted at London’s High Court, a sentence of 30 days in prison could be handed down by the judge.

Today, we can also reveal how King was snared in a meticulous operation by Ashley’s people after being welcomed to Sports Direct’s HQ for what appeared to be peace talks with the firm who control Rangers retail operations.

Denying our right to be British <doh>

Somebody should link them to the Clic sargent website ... a much more deserving charity to support. I support the Erskine/Poppy scotland appeals but if I had one choice where my £ went, between putting money in a tin for poppy appeal or for clic sargeant, it be clic sargent. What a bunch of mopey arseholes the NI huns are.
