If you looked at the value of each squad as they were bought and their sell on prices, we must be up there. The two you mentioned above, Schlupp through the academy, King too, he's no world beater but would fetch a few mill and cost nothing, Fuchs on a free, Schmeichel was about 1 mill and of course the combined 1.4 mill for Vardy and Mahrez!
Well im bored at work, so i'll work it out Taking figures from this website http://www.transferleague.co.uk/leicester-city/english-football-teams/leicester-city-transfers Kasper Schmeichel £1.4m Mark Schwarzer Free Danny Simpson £2m Ritchie De Laet £1m Robert Huth £3m Yohan Benalouane £5.6m Marcin Wasilewski Free Wes Morgan £800k Christian Fuchs Free N'Golo Kanté £5.6m Gökhan Inler £5m Matthew James £1m Andy King Free Danny Drinkwater £1m Jeff Schlupp Free Nathan Dyer Loan Marc Albrighton Free Riyad Mahrez £750k Andrej Kramarić £9m Jamie Vardy £1m Leonardo Ulloa £8m Shinji Okazaki £7m Jacob Blyth (apparently a registered prem player) Free Squad Total Cost: £53.15m Current starting 11 can vary from £15.55m - £22.8m depending on who starts up front with Vardy (either Okazaki, Mahrez or Ulloa) As for sell on fees, based on the fact we don't need to sell, imo, at a push in the right situation, we could probably get almost our entire squad cost back from selling Mahrez and Vardy
I was bored on my lunch break, so just thought I would check out the stats on Kante and Drinkwater. It seems they compliment eachother very well... Drinkwater has high key passes and chances created, whereas Kante is leading the way on tackles made and interceptions (as expected) I also decided to chuck a few Hull midfielders in there, you know, just to see how they compared... Expected them to have the better stats, playing in a poorer quality league and generally being better players and all...
Ah, good point John. I have added him in, prepared to be embarrassed by how much better he is than our pair of muppets...
Pretty similar to sterlings except I would have mahrez , and this is not me taking the mick , vardy yes of course , is Morgan better than what we have no is Huth ? He maybe on par he certainly isn't better , de laet and Simpson are poor to average , don't know much about Fuchs but he would have to be some player to better than a hot prospect in Robertson , drinkwater better than Livermore ? Not in my world he isn't , don't know about kante so can't comment on him , albrighton better than elmo again I would say elmo is the better player , vardy yes that about sums up how I see it .
You need to take your head out of your premier league bubble its nothing to do with just Leicester , I wouldn't want a fat lot of Sunderland Newcastle Norwich Bournemouth or watfordsc It's easy to say that because of how your doing now riding a wave , wait until the defeats creep in and then the Morgan haters will appear again , and if you seriously think Real Madrid want Jamie vardy , you need to lay off the football manager !
Nothing wrong with your comments Fettis - you watch your boys and we watch ours - so we are obviously better informed about our own players. On Huth I'd merely say that Danny Higginbottom commented that Stoke were mad to sell as he was the best defender at the club (he should know) ... he certainly turned us around defensively last season and was a major factor in our survival - he's a real warrior. Fuchs is the Austrian international captain and they have just qualified for the Europeans in some style and brilliantly defensively ... Kante what can I say ... he is incredible - we paid £6.5 million for him and that looks an absolute snip ... whilst I take stats with a pinch of salt one stands out - he made the most winning tackles in the whole of European football last season ... and that's what he does ... small in stature big of heart ... protects the defence, breaks up attacks, technically very good and incredibly quick ... for me he is the signing of the season ...
Question marks over which CB's would get in, I'll give you that. But we only conceded 4 more goals than you last season, so don't big up your own defence too much, and claim it's drastically better than ours. "Don't know much about Fuchs but he would have to be some player to be better than a hot prospect in Robertson"... Blimey I'm in tears! Fuchs is only captain of his national team (who comfortably won their European qualifying group), and has only made 29 Champions League appearances for Schalke over the last few seasons... I know you're all right up Robertsons arse, but has anyone heard of him outside of Hull? Drinkwater and Kante... Check the stat tables above and come back to me
Your 5th for now , your a third of the way through the season , do you honestly think you will keep it up ? I don't know why I'm asking you think vardy is off to Madrid and Morgan and drinkwater are a shoe in for the euros
No, of course we won't finish this high. Mid-table at best, for me. You're really exaggerating what we are trying to say. I'm not saying our team is world class. Just that it's better than Hulls... As I said before, after our reserves drew in the cup, I got the impression that you thought your team was basically as good as ours. I wasn't sure if I had interpreted your comments wrong, or if you were just deluded. Turns out, it's the latter
... in all honesty I don't think anybody can predict Jamie Vardy's future ... he's re-writing any number of footballing 'truths' ... Danny Murphy this morning on Talksport (on my way to work) commented that Vardy is the most 'improved' Premier League player that he has EVER seen ... some might pick holes in that but I actually have a lot of time for Murphy - he is one of the few that talk any sense on that station ... Vardy's exploits are certainly getting noticed beyond these shores ...
You just remind me of a lot of our lot after our good start , you do appear to be getting a little carried away
How am I getting carried away? All I have ever said, is that we have better players than Hull. But you've somehow twisted this into me saying we'll finish in a Champions League place Oh wait, I get it... You think you're a mid-table Premier League team, so me saying we are better means you think that I think we're ready for a Champions League push? It all makes sense now! But no, I think you're a promotion hopeful, and I think we are good enough to improve on last seasons 14th placed finish. Is that clear?
None of us think we will be this high in the table at the end of the season - we are exited that we're 18 points from our target after only 11 games.
Exactly!! Fettis you make it up as you go along!! NO ONE ON HERE thinks we will finish anywhere near where we currently are. Mid table I'll be delighted Is that clear enough or will you go and twist that yet again. Dear me
None of us think Morgan is a shoe in for the euros as he plays for Jamaica and last time I checked that wasn't in Europe. Hope that clears that up
