http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...airman_Cortese_looking_to_take_over_/?ref=rss Could be interesting....rumour Nicola is after Leeds United.
Should make a series out of it: Nicola Cortese rescues venerable old team-turned-basket-case, drags them to the PL, and then rides off (or is pushed) into the sunset.
Leeds are something of a sleeping giant - strong fan base. I have wondered for many years now why nobody has taken this club forward other than not owning their ground (that could be bought back) - good deal IMO. I can well remember the Don Revie years and that awful team he built, so no particular love for them, very loyal fans that deserve better. Good ownership meaning not just cash but direction also; NC can provide that.
I'd sort of like to see Cortese do it. Saints have tried fairly successfully to erase his influence since 2009, whereas they should be just accepting it as part of the process of rebuilding of SFC. It's a shame that there isn't a more deserving club out there for rebuilding now, as Leeds Utd are disliked from all quarters, and it would take a fair bit of swallowing from my point of view to actually think better of them. The Revie era lingers long in the memory. The thing is, Leeds have the fanbase, the expectation, and the history. Not many other clubs have that potential to rise from the grave. Plus they are in the doo-doo, so are ripe for picking. If anyone can do it, he can.
Evening Saints fans, Nicola Cortese is rumoured to launch a takeover at Elland Road. Our madman Italian maverick Massimo Cellino has finally thrown in the towel, and wants to sell. We'd really appreciate your feedback on Cortese and what kind of Chairman he would make at Elland Road. http://www.not606.com/threads/rival-bid-to-leeds-fans-utd.314948/ Thanks in advance
He'll take no crap. He will be ruthless. He will rebuild Leeds and look to the long term. He will expect the fans to behave and play their part in supporting the team. He will expect nothing less than the highest standards from everyone. I guarantee he'll make you better. You'll be in the PL within 5 years, easy. You'll get your stadium ownership back too, or he'll get another one built.
Nicola...odd spelling for an Italian name. A femminile spelling. Wonder why that and not Nicolo or Niccolo...although it does appear unusually under the maschio names. That's all
A megalomaniac who got things going and provided support for the people who knew about football. Bit prone to upsetting people, though that never included the players....think he kind of hero worshipped them and wanted to be close to the team (little man complex?). I would actually like to see him try again with another team as it would demonstrate whether he was the bee's knees or there was an element of luck at Southampton.
