Burnley 2 up at HT both scored by the lad Gray they signed from Brentford, Derby also 2 up against Rotherham and Hull 1 up at MKD......all the rest goalless.......

This guy is certainly all ready for Halloween treat or treating - kids will be knocking on my door for treats in about 4 hours. Since it falls on a Saturday, with nice weather, they'll be out later too - I'm always happy to get this night over. Better have plenty of goodies in reserve you might get your windows soaped or house egged.

So Fulham leap frog us in our mid table West London grouping, although based on current form they're both on the up and we're losing ground quickly - really not looking forward to our trip to Derby on Tues, perhaps time to roll the dice and put Warnock in charge with Ramsey back to coaching duties.

Just watching Saints v Bournemouth and I have a question: why do people describe such games as a 'local' derby? Surely, if it's a derby, then both team have to be local to each other by definition?

I think by way of being south coast teams, to which you could add Portsmouth, although Plymouth & Brighton would be stretching it.

Dear Mr Pedant

Technically you are correct, the 'local' is redundant. However, it does help the less mentally agile avoid confusing the 'Bournemouth- Southampton derby' with a style of hat, type of shoe, horse race (Epsom or Kentucky) or an East Midlands town.

Is Sam Allardyce regretting going to Sunderland? I see they were tonked 6-2 by Everton today........

In the "local" derby just to differentiate from the place that we have to go to on Tuesday, Saints are comfortable 2-0 up against a Bournemouth side that have the look of a doomed side already......relegation 3 from the bottom 6 (including Chelsea)....

I note that the thin black numbers on the backs of the Saints home shirts are not that easy to read. It's interesting that a panel is apparently required for a hooped shirt, but a stripe through the number is still permissible.

Like Luongo's efforts at Brentford, Sunderland also hit the woodwork twice before going behind, were boosted by Defoe's well taken goal just before half-time, then equalizing just after, before the defence fell apart surrendering four unanswered goals.

Bournemouth are at least still trying to play with some purpose, despite their injuries, although Saints overall are on another level.
