Tonight being Haloween , I got in the munchies for the little kids whod be trick or treating. Not one knock on my door i cant figure out if trick or treating is dead or if i shouldve put in an effort and put up some more decorations than the solitary one I put on my door.
Culture has changed, we had a brief stint in the 90s and 00s in the this country where we copied the American idea of knocking on peoples doors. What happens now, because as we don't really like the idea of knocking on people's door unless we really have too, is that people have parties instead. I know a number of people with children who instead of trick or treating this year who were taking the kids to Halloween parties. Its just more of a British and Irish thing to do.
Seen loads out in fancy dress tonight, groups going parties ... kiddies, teens, adults Not one knock on the door but there's no decorations outside Think if you have a pumpkin glowing on the doorstep or at the gate, whatever, plus other decs then it means come and knock, if there's nothing most/all will avoid as they assume not welcome
I think the biggest trend in the UK for Halloween came in the late 90's when Walmart bought ASDA. The American brand were undoubtedly going to bring their major festive fright night celebrations over here. However, not really sure it ever took off in the same context, where the adults seem to outdo the kids with corporate events in the run up to it. It seemed to be promoted this season as said above, if you have decors then a knock is welcome, if not the kids stayed away. Although looking at Hash's OP image the greedy bastard just wanted all the munchies for himself
In the US the porch light on means you're giving out sweets. Walked around neighbourhood; kids have more than they can eat in a month. We left bowl at bottom of driveway with a help yourself sign so we could walk with kids. I didn't really like idea of kids doing it at first. Seemed like begging... but lots of adults especially older ones, really love having children come to the door dressed up so I'm ok with it now.
Halloween is as high now as it ever was in this country. People just have more respect for their neighbours nowadays. They only go to decorated houses
Well you can get sued for the trick these days. Parents also think there is a **** behind every bush and front door but that is only true if you send your kids trick or treating to Westminster or BBC headquarters.
i think its accepted now that if you dont have any decs visible or a pumkin outside etc, you are left alone. but not sure if being serious with your question considering you had jimmy saville on the door
See my post above yours. Of course he wasn't serious. It's Hash, ffs. As for trick or treaters, still loads of the annoying little creatures round these parts.
Thats not even my door I just seen that pic and thought it was funny. Unfortunately for me , my mrs had decorations and ghosts and ****e everywhere so the door was going every few minutes. Cant really complain as my two kids were off out trick or treating too. Anyway at least its over for another year and the kids and car didnt get hit with any eggs Unlike my neighbour's car that got destroyed in eggs damn teenagers
I answered the question seriously because i wanted too, I'm not pretending anything else, i did mean it, so get your head out your own arsehole dickhead, thank you I was being sarcastic to you in the next post.
