Can it ever be there for a full game unless you're controlling the game and the ball? That was my point mate i.e. is it possible to gain an extra level of fitness that allows that style to be played over a full game, given the level of opposition in relation to your own side? I don't think it is. He can therefore only play that way in bursts in this league imo.

His Dortmund side managed to do it for a good 6-7 years.

But that was in Bundesliga so must be irrelevant.

The Bundesliga isn't the PL. It's nowhere near as strong in depth, not played at the same pace and they dominated teams most weeks as they were vastly superior in terms of personel.

Ignore the point if you wish, but it's a valid observation nonetheless. TIme will tell if it's a tact that'll work over here. I have my view and I'll stand by it. I think it'll leave you defensively frail.

    What an incredibly ignorant comment.

You clearly don't watch German football if you don't think it's fast paced.

    Yawn.

I've seen plenty and it's not played at the same level of pace and intensity week after week, as it's a weaker league.

What channel do you watch your endless hours of Bundesliga on btw?

Or do you go searching for a grainy stream as you're such a dedicated football jedi?

It's easily accessible, you just have to look beyond MOTD. <ok>

Easily accessible on what channel in your house then lad?

    Bullshitter.

Wolfsburg finished runners up in that league last season and we smashed them 6-1 on aggregate btw <ok>

There's a small, up and coming firm called BT that show a lot of football. And football is available on many streams.

Please try and broaden your horizons ...

    <laugh>

BT do indeed have it by the way and I've sat and watched many a game <ok>

p.s. I very rarely watch MOTD btw, it's full of clueless kopites

EDIT: I note you deleted my point about Wolfsburg........

  10. It can be there for a full game yes. Its not meant to be relentless pressing whenever we haven't got possession. Its about regaining possession quickly after losing it. At risk of sounding like Brod, its the seven second recover he alluded to but never managed to put into practice. If we fail to get it back quickly, we drop into position where the rest of the team (that weren't pressing) are already ready and waiting.

Beyond this, its about timing. One goes to close the ball and if the opposition find a pass, another Liverpool player goes and this continues until a opportunity arises at which point others join the one guy already there.

Its not relentless 100mph running for ninety minutes. Its a strategy that the players need to learn to impose on games.

Yep, I watch a lot of footy and I'm not xenophobic unlike you.

Ignored it as it has no relevance. We're discussing the pace of football. Bundesliga is fast paced.

Exactly - it's about being smarter when we press and keeping shape and structure. Rodgers philosophy was just mindless pressing, which was spearheaded by Luis.

The gegenpressing that Klopp has as his lynchpin sees the whole side compressed though, so if you're hunting the ball down in an advanced position then your back line is also pushed high, which leaves you open to the counter if you don't retrieve the ball. If you do then as an attacking tact it then means you've got plenty of bodies in an attacking position ready ro receive, but a good possession side could work the ball out quickly and get in behind.

I'm not sure I agree about you lot playing it for a whole game either, as I think it exerts more energy than you'll have in the tank, unless you're playing a ****e side.
