Sherwood's been sacked, according to sky.
So we face yet another club with a new manager next week

Needs to learn some humility to be honest. His interviews have been atrocious.
And he should stop believing his own hype...he chose to ignore ALL cup games when quoting a win rate of 59% with us instead of the ACTUAL rate of 50% (less than MP who had managed us over a much longer period of time)...yet with villa he included cup matches as they suited him!
I don't particularly dislike him but he comes across like a complete twat most of the time

Some of his post-match tantrums certainly didn't indicate any career longevity, for example his completely dismissing any of the positives of their performance against Leicester with "Who cares?" because they lost 3-2, in no small part because of his substitutions that nerfed Villa's attacking intent and allowed Leicester as much time with the ball as they needed to get back into the game and ultimately win it.

For me, that was the moment where Sherwood put his job at risk, because it would've pissed off the players no end.

Awful penalty decision in the Tyne-Wear Derby. Ever unbiased, Quinn manages to skirt around it and instead blames Coloccini for using his strength.

Wouldn't surprise me if Mourinho's gone ahead of the Chelsea game too.

Moyes looks the big favourite at the moment. Makes sense, I'm sure Sociedad wouldn't be too disappointed to see him go, even though they have just won 4-0.

Edit: I do love Odds Checker when there's a sacking. Some of the outsiders that bookies offer are fantastic. Joe Jordan and O'Leary <laugh>

There may be a decent manager in Sherwood that will one day emerge,
but until then he does not have the CV to justify his gobbiness (however
"refreshing" etc some may find it) .

It will be interesting to see how Chris Ramsey develops in his managerial
career (assuming he can handle that side of things beyond the coaching side) .

Even though they have the goal advantage and an extra man, Sunderland still look very vulnerable at the back. Not convinced by them at all.

They'll probably stay up again by the skin of their teeth. Such an annoying side.

Part of me was hoping I'd be proven wrong as I was posting that since I have 2-2 in the prediction league :D

I quite like Sunderland as a club so I'd be pleased if they stay up. I agree they're not convincing but they surely can't stuff this up.

When I say not convincing, I don't mean just in terms of this game, but overall. Whenever I have seen them play, they really don't look like a good side and they have been flirting with relegation for a good few years now. They have gone through a lot of different managers and have spent a lot of money, but they've seen minimal, if any, improvement.

And now they have Allardyce as a manager <doh> So can't agree with you when you say you'd be pleased if they stay up.

I like Big Sam, he's a genuine guy and does what he needs to do to get results.

I agree they've wasted a lot of money but I've always got on well with Sunderland fans that I've met so I like them.

Gooners will remember the days of Big Sam terrorising wenger, from his days as Bolton manager.

Which clubs will replace Sunderland/Newcastle? as neither are going to be relegated, with Sunderland ensuring their safety by appointing Big Sam. I can see Norwich/Bournemouth going down, with Villa if they appoint Remi Garde as manager.

Think I had Villa, Watford and West Ham to go down at the start of the season. I'll concede defeat on West Ham but I still fancy Watford for the drop and Villa will be interesting as I was expecting Sherwood to be in charge for longer. I'll stick with two of them and back West Brom, Sunderland and Chelsea to be in the mix for the spot I had reserved for West Ham.

I like Allardyce, but I'm not sure he can pull this one off. Sunderland have far too many average players for my liking. Watford will definitely be in the mix as will Norwich. At the start of the season I was convinced Bournemouth would be ok, but long term injuries to so many key performers means sadly that survival is a very tough task.
