Hopefully this thread will help me fill my belly when I'm back hime over Christmas

I'm looking for tips of where to get good quality food such as

a great curry
A brilliant cooked breakfast
a quality burger

Fish and chips - I'll be heading to Frydays - I usually go there more than once so I'm happy to try another if anyone thinks there's a good comparison - I'm not going to Woody's - I thought it was rank..,

Indian in Anlaby is nice I think, opposite Red Lion (Amman?)

Not sure what you mean by "quality" but the ones in Aunt Bibbys are enormous!

Don't know about breakfast, although Brian Fields in Anlaby does one in the café above the deli

Don't rule out 1884 as well depending on the menu

I'm hungry now

We always go to Frydays too but I have had several good reports for Papas (opposite Waitrose) in Willerby recently.

Papa's is really good, large family deal is great
6 fish
2 fishcakes
2 sausages
6 chicken nuggets
2 chips
2 sides

£13.95

If by breakfast you mean "Hangover cure", Kristoffs in cottingham does a mighty breakfast that would feed a small town (and probably give it a heart attack!)

Best burger in Hull is Dope burger. It's a little takeaway in the style of bun in the oven. Top of Anlaby Rerd.

If you want a sit down burger then old house is good. Plus other decent grub and a nice selection of beers. Also it's, I believe, the oldest domestic dwelling in Hull.

A sit down fish n chips is never as good as a proper chippy in my book, but Lion & Key in the old town is solid. Plus again, there is the benefit of a nice selection of beers.

Ray's place. Say no more.

And if you like Chinese then Yinjibar is a couple of divisions above your usual fayre.

Cooked breakfast from Thieving Harry's and get your burger from Dope Burger.

very much agree...and very much disagree

Thieving Harry's breakfast is nice, but far too small IMHO

Dope Burger is excellent as a few people have said (Don't know why I forgot to say that earlier)

The lad who runs Dope Burger is well on his way to his first million , I'd give it a try soon just to say you was there when he just had a little burger bar in town , his brand will deffo go national , quite poss global

Dennis mentioned Brian Field's in Anlably but he never mentioned the steak & kidney pies. **** me I'm really funny about pies, if I ever get one piece of fat I'll never go back, I've been going there for years, no fat, no gristle, they're seriously the very best pies you'll ever eat. They also do just steak if you're not keen on kidney, but the steak and kidney are unbelievably good!
