http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...s/herrera-would-not-first-manchester-10283579 Ander Herrera could be coming to a Man Utd away end sometime soon, but he would not be the first player to stand on the terraces. Ander Herrera is the latest Manchester United player who is keen to sample the away day experience with Louis van Gaal's Red and White Army. “I want to go to an away game with our fans one day, they're unbelievable,” Herrera told the club website. Herrera would not be the first to stand with Reds in an away end, though. In October 2000, Class of '92 pair Gary Neville and David Beckham watched United school Leicester 3-0 at Filbert Street to go top of the Premier League table. United's No.7 was even photographed tucking into a pie. Neville, too, was stood in the second tier of the Shed End at Stamford Bridge in 2011 - just months after he had announced his retirement - and the former captain was filmed lamenting Wayne Rooney's profligacy. Another United captain, Roy Keane, was spotted at Hillsborough with Reds in the 90s. Neville's brother, Phil, also attended United's opening league game of the season at West Brom later that year with his late father and son. United's defensive trio of Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea and Phil Bardsley stood in the Anfield Road End for the infamous 2006 FA Cup fifth round defeat. Liverpool supporters reportedly tossed cups of excrement and urine over United supporters below them, and the ambulance carrying the stricken Alan Smith was attacked outside of the ground on a toxic afternoon. It was a happier Cup tie for Darren Fletcher, Ashley Young, Tom Cleverley and Keane twins Will and Michael at City in 2012. Despite a lax second-half, they watched United win 3-2 at the Etihad on a day Reds did 'the Poznan' en masse. And Young hit the road with Reds in October that year, when he saw United beat Newcastle 3-0. PS: Follow the link for photos and video
I dunno, Peter. I wouldn't be best chuffed if I was watching a Man Utd game on TV and saw Snodgrass or Hernandez standing among their fans.
I'm waiting for someone to say that's the best place for huddlestone (plus they can pass on some shooting tips). Imagine Alex Bruce and Charon sharing a terrace.
Can remember Ashbee sitting with tigers fans I think away against Watford. The usual we're the right side we're the left side chant was interspersed with "we've got ashbee, we've got ashbee, we've got ashbee on our side" etc
A lot of players go to matches but they usually sit in the corporate areas. The article was more about players going away and sitting or standing with the travelling fans.
