It's that tackle. He's got it down as a science. Without that tackle he'd be pretty ordinary... Still great awareness and positioning but overall ordinary.

With that tackle he becomes like a superhero.

Mash-man the superhero with the amazing incredibly long tackle.

The pace / acceleration coupled with his reading of the game allows him to be in the right position to make those tackles.

Mascherano is a bit old now, unless it was just a year or two contract. Lets not forget his love for Liverpool, when he won the champions league against utd, he said that he did that for Liverpool fans.
31. If he joined us at 32 He could still have 2 or 3 good seasons left in him before he started to go bad (in today's game how many people stay much longer than that anyway). As said earlier, he was never the quickest player but he read the game well, had great positioning and was amazing at tackling.

His style of play is one that shouldn't deteriorate too quickly with age.

Unless it's a free, there is no chance of him rejoining! Even on a free it's unlikely.

dont give a **** how old he is, UNTILL we are in a position to get better, take masch and alonso back in a heartbeat

I never said I was bothered. It won't happen unless they're on a free because of our recruitment policy

The recruitment policy which signed Lallana, Lambert and Milner ... <whistle>

In all fairness - I think it's a good policy. We need to sign young talented players because they're the ones we are most likely to attract.

Milder was free so fits the point. We'll pay occasionally for someone slightly older (Lallana) but I'll give you Lambert.

Milner was made the clubs most highly paid player - that's a big statement. Point is - the policy is a little more relaxed than what it was before.

But ultimately - if we want to sign older players i,e, 25/26+ then they should be in or very near to the prime of their career. No player will in that stage of their career will want to join us because they'll already be at top club so LFC will be a step down. And if we do manage to sign a player like that, then are they good enough? It's not an exact science - Howedes would be an exception.

Young talented players, who are performing consistently at a high level is who we should be targeting in terms of maximising the quality of player we can attract and also financial implications.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is considering whether to recall winger Lazar Markovic, 21, in January from his season-long loan at Fenerbahce. (Liverpool Echo)

The 21-year-old joined the Reds in the summer of 2014 in a deal worth £20m, but took time to adapt to life on Merseyside.

The winger made just seven league appearances before Christmas, and was used more frequently as a wing-back in Rodgers' 3-4-2-1 formation.

The Serbian, now on loan at Fenerbahce, admits to feeling frustrated in that role – and with Rodgers.

“I didn’t have a good relationship with the coach,” Markovic told Portuguese newspaper A Bola. “That was a problem.

“I played in many positions but didn’t play in mine.”

Markovic's difficult first season led to him being sent out on loan to Turkey, where he has played four league games so far this season.

However, suggestions Markovic could return to Liverpool in January under Klopp appear unlikely, as the ECHO understands Liverpool do not have the right to recall him from his season-long loan.

Representatives of Markovic did believe he could be recalled in the winter transfer window, but it now appears he will stay in Istanbul for the entire campaign.

I wonder if we should place a £20mill bid for Raheem Stirling in the January transfer window. He apparently still loves us and would still be with us if it wernt for "the white-teethed one".

I think £20 mill reflects his true value because he will improve and become good.

Thoughts...

nah,

tongue in cheek or not we only need players at this club who want to be here, and £20 mill is too much,he's not worth that much <laugh>

how can representatives of markovic believe something and it not be true? that doesn't make any sense to me, or is that journo code for making it up as we go along ****e.
