To be honest I normally regard Shearer as being a decent and honest pundit. However, I believe he called this one wrong.

When Pants was on the ground the ball was took away from him with 2 hands on the ball, but when you are where we are and Atkinson in charge we had no chance of a result, and we will NEVER win a game with him or Friend as ref, and Mclean should have stopped in league one which he deserves. They will need that 8 foot wall next week without a doubt, and I am not talking about putting up beside our goal !

If he'd aimed a punch at O'Shea's bald patch and cleaned out everyone and everything on the way the 2/3 fouls would be irrelevant.....

It could have been given, but I'd have expected my keeper to hurt the little runt, giving away a pen in the process, rather than just letting the little biatch have that easy goal. WBA are so anti football, even their own fans ****ing hate them.

He in the air man. At home get somebody to throw their momentum into you back first in mid air and see what happens. It was a foul, by the rules of the game. Shearer is so thick he thinks the rules around the goal has gray areas. It doesn't, it's a black and white foul by the laws of the game. By all means criticize Pants for his decision making(rightly) in that incident but it doesn't detract from the fact berahino jumped into Pants, turning his back into him, got nowhere near the ball and made full contact. It was a foul.

No it wouldn't because the the foul came first. If he went in with the punch it would still have been a foul on the keeper. You can't shuffle the order of events to suite a point.

You sorted for the mags fella? I'll put that thread up tomorrow. :)

Shearer is bit supportive occasional well begrudgenly but he did'nt half criticise the dark ones a few weeks ago - nice one . But Pants should have held the ball before nudged - if he had probs a free kick would have been given - I agree still a poor ref call but we shouĺd'nt be suprised there

I think over the last few years he's gone out of his way to be fair and unbiased on our performances.

The cynic in me says he had no choice if he wanted to be taken seriously. There again, maybe he was just genuinely trying to do his job properly.

Yeah got tickets sorted! My brother's coming too so looking at maybe coming up on the Sat night.
Looking forward to it! Definitely grab a pint before and or after! <ale><ale>
On the lack of punching by Pants, my point was he came for the ball like a fairy! :emoticon-0182-poolp<diva>If he'd got anything on it then the "multi-fouls" might have been a bit more apparent! :emoticon-0148-yes:

What really annoys me about this is when pepole say "technically it was a foul but..." There's nothing to add - every keeper in the world gets protection from the referee - except ours - is it any wonder he's got no confidence? Mannone is even worse!!

I saw Adam LeFondre do exactly the same for Wolves against Derby and guess what - free-kick given. Saw him do the same to a defender (jump at them rather than the ball) and it was given as a free-kick too.

Attacker handled the ball and keeper had the ball in his hands again on the floor. He was also jumped into by the attacker - which of those three mean "the keeper has to do better" and which mean "The referee has to do better"?

A foul is a ****ing foul man regardless of size stature etc.

Do you see that beast Akinfenwa not getting fouls because he's a beast? "should be stronger" etc. A foul is a foul.

Realistically there was 3 things could've been given against the goal but weren't. Initial foul, handball and then whether it was in 2 hands.

    Biased refs again?

It was west brom not chelsea.

Fixation with blaming refs etc. Is making us look a laughing stock.

Is this a subtle hint that you agree with me that all refs are not out to screw us?

It's not just top refs though is it, yesterday I went to support my granddaughter play in her under 13 girls league in Kendal, it was a round robin day when the kids played each other twice so four games of 12 minutes each, it's great to see loads of young kids getting exercise and trying their hearts out, the girls were leading 2-1 in their last game (all the games were reffed by a thirteen year old girl who happened to play for the Kendal team) when their defender clearly heads the ball out for a corner which the ref gives. The girls all go forward all bar one for the corner kick when the ref changes her mind and with the ball in the hands of their goalie and gives a goal kick instead, the keeper launches it long and they go through to score just in time for the ref too blow full time, the granddaughter and her mates were absolutely gutted, We complained to the other teams coach and she said (the ref) was trying her chest and we shouldn't get on at her.

I know it sounds petty but those kids tried their hearts out only to be robbed by s p1ss poor bit of refereeing, it didn't matter to them that the ref was trying her best, I suppose we have to accept that Mr Atkinson was also trying his best, however often he gets it Wong.

I think there's possibly something in it you know, you're not a fashionable side or a title challenger so it seems it might just be easier to deny you certain decisions, it's only Sunderland after all, **** 'em.

I think some people on here might tend to take it a bit too far, adopting victim mentality when your players are responsible for the majority of your defeats, it can be seen as a little bitter.

I think it's worth considering though that any team down the bottom doesn't play with freedom to express themselves, they play with frustration and sometimes that encourages self-pity. You end up in a vicious circle, over analysing every decision because you're looking for ways to explain why you can't buy 3 points.

Fact is, if that happened to you and you were in 8th position, with nowt to play for in April, many of you'd be saying "It's football, referees make mistakes, we move on".

You have to make your own luck, it starts with stability and having good squads, two things you're struggling (yet trying very hard) to put right.

Sorry boss, forgot the rules, let me change it.

****ing referees are all the same, as soon as they wake up they stab pictures of Sunderland players in the face with knives to make themselves feel better.

There was one referee blaming his diarrhoea on John O'Shea in 1994 when O'Shea gave him a chip and ever since then he's been setting fire to his Xbox whenever Sunderland are playing his team.

Then there's two hundred other refs who have it in for all of the players, they get together in their little referee costumes in Aldi car park in Doncaster and set fire to little scare crows they've made to look like Lee Cattermole and Seb Larsson.

Kill all the refs and let Niall Quinn ref our games FFS!
