Wonder if the people who think it's acceptable would teach their kids such behavior in victory? That's why he lacks grace and class, it's the example he sets. If AJ did it he'd be splashed all over the papers and disgraced. AJ gets it every game. Mind you, we've bearly won since he was accused so hasn't had chance to lower himself <laugh>

From his own Manager (Pulis on Mclean)

"He's not the sharpest tool in the box, and that's not being disrespectful to him. But he's a smashing lad."

Would that be the same people who used their voices at the match to voice an opinion towards McLean?

As an Arsenal fan, I realise this situation has **** all to do with me, but I just wanted to say that if your argument is that he/other footballers should set exemplary behaviour for children, then fans at the ground should follow suit too because all sorts of vitriolic abuse and profanities are used in the crowd which children have to listen to for 90 minutes or more. Not exactly a reasonable environment for a kid to be in to hear that language, is it?

McClean doesn't seem like the brightest tool in the box, and what he did no doubt exacerbated the situation, but I just think the whole thing is a storm in a teacup. From the video itself, it didn't seem that bad. The way Graham and Cattermole reacted was ludicrous as well.

Just my opinion on the matter.

I don't understand your point. I don't condone that behaviour either, but needless to say, running the length of the pitch to slide on your knees after just scoring a goal would most likely provoke more of a hostile reaction that just swinging your arm in like 3 seconds.

It also has no relevance to fans - in general, and yes, that does include Arsenal fans - making the environment better for children, if we also want the players to follow suit.

I don't think you understand the history with Sunderland and this player who slags us off in the press at every opportunity.

That's fair enough to be honest. All I know about McClean is that he isn't very patriotic, he was once a player for Sunderland and, having joined a new club, he pumped his fists in front of your fans after the match. There may well be more to it than just that, I just gave my opinion based on my (admittedly little) knowledge of the situation.

Of course. And our fans that day massively overreacted too. My point still stands, though.
