If his knee is actually swolen from the knock there's not much point in saying just play anyway

Said this in the summer, we should be looking to sell him in the coming windows.
He is too injury prone and could fetch a good price still. We can't rely on him being fit or getting back to fitness, we need to get someone else and have a new plan.

Apparently had a scan on his knee and there was some swelling. I think seeing his injury record, it's best not to take a chance at this point, especially with our injury list ever growing. I think a bit of sympathy is needed with Sturridge, no one wants to be injured and it must be frustrating for him. Klopp did the right thing today, don't rush him back, make do and play him when he's 100%.. Let's not forget he's only been back a few weeks.

I'm not sure we should sell him but we certainly should not be reliant on him or building an attack around him.

Don't get me wrong I said the manager was right. Just thinking when do all his injuries start to outway his contributions when on the pitch?

When a better player is available to buy and pay for the same money we're paying him

Maybe he gets rushed back. That's my thinking anyway, if Rodgers was still in charge he would of played today, for sure. We're too reliant on him, it was the same with Torres, so we rush them back, play them ASAP and inevitably get injured.

Who knows, I guess I don't know better than the clubs doctors.

Happy that we played with a high back line today - Spurs struggled to get in behind, or create chances themselves without us gifting it to them.

A first clean sheet in 8 games I believe which is good - Klopp did say we need a stable defence. Feel bad for Gomez because I genuinely feel he was close to starting ahead of Skrtel. Subotic and Hummels were both given starts at early ages so Klopp isn't afraid to use youngsters.

Yep Gomez was my hope to get Skrtel out of the first XI too

And I would like to continue the Sakho love in - what a performance. Dealt with Kane easily even though the media will have you believe he is the next Alan Shearer.

By far our best defender and one of the best in the league. Don't care what rivals want to say - he is. Kompany and Terry are the only two who are on par.

I thought Can was quietly effective today - patrolled the area well, passed wel and won the ball back several times. Would like to see him venture forward on one his powerful runs a bit more though.

Get a quality CM next to him or Hendo.

I actually think Klopp would have played Skrtel regardless of Gomez being fit or not. I seem to recall him saying something like everyone getting a chance to prove themselves to him so Skrtel would equally have got a chance. I didn't think he was terrible today and overall part of a defensive unit who kept a clean sheet. I would have wanted Gomez and Sakho together at some point too (and before that, Wisdom and Sakho), but now that can't happen.

At least he's better than Toure. If we can't recall one of Ilori or Wisdom in January, we might try a loan ourselves for defensive cover til summer.

Some bits I like of that article

Once in the technical area, Klopp was a whirl of activity, encouraging his players to press at every opportunity and sounding his appreciation when they carried out his instructions.
When Can, 15 minutes in, charged to close off Kyle Walker, his manager reacted as if a goal had been scored. “Yes, Emre! That’s it, that’s it!” came the cry.

There were jokes, too. To Coutinho when he misplaced a pass, to Moreno when he bought a cheap free-kick. At the final whistle, he was over to each of his players for an embrace for a job well done.

Next to get the nod – and a telling off for being too slow to get changed – was Jordon Ibe, on for the quiet Coutinho. “Work! Work!” was his last-minute instruction from Klopp. Liverpool players will get used to that request, you feel.

Its what Ibe needs. He's become a bit complacent recently.

He needs his manager to say, 'you're good, but you still need to work at it'. Its one of the things Rodgers fell down on, came off as too nice to his players all the time, too chummy. Footballers need a good kick up the arse a lot of the time.
