Newmarket Warrior will win tomorrow. Bit of 5's about if you're quick.

Got a dogs dinner of a ride the last day here (too far back with a strongly fancied front runner out on his own) when he clearly should have won. Been second at this venue on his last 3 starts, I'll be surprised if he's not broken his duck tomorrow afternoon.

After 2 days off sick I've been to the docs today and she has signed me off for tomorrow as well. Chance for a nice rice or two ;)

Nice race at Maisons Laffitte tomorrow, the Criterium stakes at 1:50. I'd like to see Smash Williams win as I believe we could have a nice one to look forward too (until Godolphin buy him anyway) but Yakaba will prove stern opposition alongside the likes of Log Out Island who she cosily beat when they last met and also Donjuan Triumphant and Mount Kiara make the trip over too.

Your bullishness intrigued me enough to look where this was running, a 7f class 5 handicap <yikes> Why so confident bobster?!

I pondered hard over Newmarket Warrior this evening as I have backed it the last couple of times it has run, the last time it was the last horse in a yankee of which the others had won so it let me down for quite a sum. I have decided to leave it tomorrow as although it has indeed been backed again heavily the horse does not appear straight forward in that it he started very slowly last time and would likely have won had he not, but also seemed to think about it when still looking to come with a winning run despite the bad start. The other reason is he is contesting a class 5 again tomorrow instead of the class 6 in which he went very close before.

My conclusion was that the horse has the ability to win the race without doubt, but that I could more easily watch him win without my money on than I could feel silly for placing a third bet despite noting these possible issues. The connections must surely be feeling the same if he does not win soon as they have thrown money at that horse recently.

    3.00 Wincanton- Polisky - 5/2

This seems to be his favourite track with both his career wins coming here. Won over C&D last October on good to firm ground in a small runner field - the exact conditions we have today, carrying top weight should be no problem has conditions to suit and the Paul Nicholls domination continues

Because I had less than a handful of flat bets this year and this ****er was one of them. It owes me some bloody money.

Miles ahead of its mark. Ground, trip and course are right. Yard job jockey on board. If it breaks it wins.

I have never been a massive fan of backing short priced horses but there are three that have caught my eye today so I've put them in a wee treble...

    3:25 Fake - UNTIL WINNING 7/4
    4:00 Fake - KNOCK HOUSE 5/4
    4:45 Winc - BARTON ANTIX 15/8

I say I bet there is a huge amount of excitement amongst you types this morn as there is a qualifier from the forum’s favourite system out today. And cor bally blinkin’ blimey it’s currently priced up at 80/1 with those bookie chappies.

By ‘eck, I say, by ‘eck!

Indeed. Actually, she’s a very, very nicely bred filly. Her dam won a Listed contest for Sir Henry. And Betty is a half sister to Stand Guard (who won 26 races) and Wafeira (another winner for Sir Henry). Also, I must say, Betty Turpin, what a lovely name for a filly.

The downside re her though is she showed very, very little on debut.

The 80’s has all gone incidentally. Betty Turpin now a best priced 66/1. Undoubtedly the weight of forum money has caused this contraction.

The new final furlong podcast is out lads. Patrick Mullins spends 90 mins talking about the yards battalions. Don't miss out.

Quite cleverly named actually, as she is by Dick Turpin out of Protectress, and wasn't dear old Betty a protrectress of the Rovers regulars with her warming hotpot to keep out the chill Lancashire air?

Wonderful words. Post of the year in my opinion.

I would have relished a hotpot just now, at the top table, as the Wiltshire wind is certainly 'biting' today. Had kedgeree instead though. Not a fan. 4/10.
