Morning, you types. The ‘county set’ are set to plunge on a live ‘un today and as it’s also trained in the county and owned by Mr Ponsonby cor bally blinkin’ blimey imagine the celebrations that will ensue later on if it’s successful. By ‘eck!
THE BARBURY QUEEN (3.25 Worcester) – what a lovely, and indeed appropriate, name for a mare by the way. When old boy Alan King pitches a filly or mare into a bumper against geldings it is often wise to sit up and take notice and he did just that on debut with this one. The Barbury Queen ran with great credit on that occasion as well and was beaten just 4.75 lengths by some decent looking opponents. The gelding who finished just in front of her, in 3rd that day, has since been out and won a bumper so the form would appear not only promising but very solid. Now racing solely against her own sex expect The Barbury Queen to open her account later on this afternoon. She is also, most deffo, bred for the NH game as The Barbury Queen’s half –brother, Priests Leap, was a dual winner of the ‘Thyestes Chase’. Current quotes of 5/1 look more than fair to my eye.
Good luck, crew.
