Punchy 4.50-Colms Dream win 7/2. Jumped like a stag when running out a convincing winner lto at Roscommon. The handicapper has put him up 9 lbs for that victory but I don't think that will be enough to stop him going in again plus the opposition doesn't look to convincing to me.

Oooh arrgh it's Ambrosier oooh arrgh it's Ambrosier...I can see 10/10 from everyone on the lunch front tomorrow now the seed has been sewn!

I have never understood why this is a problem with bookies Don - you can readily pace a bet for Vautour to win the KG at 3-1 and Conygree to win the GC at 6-1 but cannot place Vautour to win both at 3-1 and 5-1. Mathematically it is just numbers, and the names should not matter to a bookie, and it does not alter liabilities in the least as something will win the first race and prices change for the second race accordingly, those which change are irrelevant as bookmaking is about numbers and not names.

Does anyone know a bookie who will take a double on Vautour in KG and in the GC?

Only Bet365 have priced it up. 14/1 seems quite stingy, given he might not even run in the KG, and it could end up being a bog there again. Probably get a better price nearer the time. Coneygree would of been interesting as he was very quick round Kempton last year, but the trainer is not very keen at all to run there.

Anyone for SWASHBUCKLING? Been put up both times he's ran and has ran well on both occassions without getting his head in front. Is today the day I wonder. At 6/1 could go ew but I'm going for a win today. Runs in the 3.35 Nottingham.

Thrown a sicky today and only just realised there are 3 NH cards on - marvellous. Very nice novice chase at Wetherby.

Anyone having rice for lunch?

Morning, you types. The ‘county set’ are set to plunge on a live ‘un today and as it’s also trained in the county and owned by Mr Ponsonby cor bally blinkin’ blimey imagine the celebrations that will ensue later on if it’s successful. By ‘eck!

THE BARBURY QUEEN (3.25 Worcester) – what a lovely, and indeed appropriate, name for a mare by the way. When old boy Alan King pitches a filly or mare into a bumper against geldings it is often wise to sit up and take notice and he did just that on debut with this one. The Barbury Queen ran with great credit on that occasion as well and was beaten just 4.75 lengths by some decent looking opponents. The gelding who finished just in front of her, in 3rd that day, has since been out and won a bumper so the form would appear not only promising but very solid. Now racing solely against her own sex expect The Barbury Queen to open her account later on this afternoon. She is also, most deffo, bred for the NH game as The Barbury Queen’s half –brother, Priests Leap, was a dual winner of the ‘Thyestes Chase’. Current quotes of 5/1 look more than fair to my eye.

Good luck, crew.

Unlikely. On a Wednesday I usually forsake the ‘top table’ and opt for a quiet corner in order to read ‘The Weekender’.

I see, people, that dear old Pip Hobbs isn’t messing about with Golden Doyen. No more hurdling for the 4YO. On Saturday he’s set to make his debut over the big ‘uns at Market Raspberry.

I was waiting for the nod from the county set on Barbury Queen Sir Barney, and have duly struck a wager re her chances "on the nose".
