Having qualified has probably got a lot to do with second gear. As for the prices people are paying, no one is forcing them to go to the match and they have a choice. It must have been obvious to most this would have been a foot off the pedal game.
Northern Ireland's draw wrapped up an exceptional campaign with a well-deserved group win with a 1-1 draw in Finland. Now the Republic chase an automatic place in the finals in Poland. That man Lewandowski scored his 15th goal in six games to put Poland 2-1 up and the ROI now chase the equaliser that will see them through...
ROI come up short. They just didn't have enough quality to create enough chances. Although the Poles should of had a player off for dangerous play. When you think back to Nani's sending off for ManU v Real tonight's challenge was worse.
Ireland never really looked like getting a 2nd, only chance fell to our favourite Centre Half Richard Keogh who needless to say made a haims of it......

Being at Lansdowne Rd last Thursday was superb. Irish grit, and a little bit o' class, shone through.
Tonight was second best and a little painful.

Still incredible that Ireland took 4 pts off Germany - hopefully they will make it through the play-off route.
I was at the Poland v Ireland game which was a very tense and physical match. Ireland played well, but I am very pleased that yesterday was not their day on the football pitch, but I wish them well in the playoffs.
On a QPR note, it was very pleasing that "Papa's got a brand new pigbag" was the music played to the victory celebration and he confetti shower.

Surely France will be favourites playing at home. England have done everything they had to in a stupidly weak group, the friendlies coming up will be more interesting. None of the usual suspects seem to be in top form, could be an open competition next year, perhaps England do have a chance. Or we could be one of the eight teams (out of 24) knocked out at the group stage. Greedy UEFA have pointlessly expanded this competition for no discernable reason except cash. Might as well expand to 32 teams and make qualification even more pointless. Or expand the finals so everyone qualifies, but still have qualification so the money still comes in.
Things that have crossed my mind while half watching this training match:
- why the **** has ITV got 4 channels - they can't fill one with decent stuff
- how come Doooogie Freedman is still in employment?
- Danny Ings has got dirty arms.
- How many English premier league players haven't got an international cap?
- And how **** must you be if you haven't?
- Jurgen Klopp would be the perfect England manager as his teams aren't fixated on possession
- salted caramel clotted cream ice cream is the food of the obesity gods
- Glenn Hoddle. Where did it all go wrong Glenda? "More questions than answers. As a manager you always have that, sometimes"

Seriously like the look of England at the moment
They look fresh and full of confidence
Let this lot play like this in France they will trouble any team
If they dictate the play like this instead of letting the better play it can only be good

Agreed, although England will also be tailor made for quick counter attacks when they have all their players back from injury.
The biggest test will be having to throw off the memory of past tournament failures.
The upcoming friendlies will give us a better idea of where England are, but they are only friendlies. Not sure if England will be anywhere near full strength for them either.

If they lay off and watch and give these teams respect its back to square one with a nation that thinks it deserves to win

Penny has dropped its a game not a right to be the best in people's heads
The other nations think this way and therefore get ready for a tournament

Writ said he would take it back to basics after Brazil and credit to him with this team IMO he is on the brink of success
I watched the OX chase down the ball in the 70th minute last night like a fresh puppy. I have not seen that before and the TV was saying how poor he had been
His movement was very good and the team won that ball back very quickly .... It's key
You cannot score without the ball if they get it off Spain and counter as they have learnt to do then it will make their defence work which I believe is weak because they are rarely tested

Well next this nation has to understand what a friendly means and what other nations use them for
Can't wait as I have two venues in France close enough to go
The 10 out of 10 wins means nothing. You're judged on your performance at the Tournament where everyone is on a level playing field again.
The fact that Hodgson never offered his resignation after the World Cup was disrespectful in my opinion. The FA didn't have to accept it, and Hodgson certaintly could have stated 'I want another chance, I'm building a young side but I accept the results matter to the fans and I've fallen well short of expectation'. It would have been the decent thing to do. Stuart Lancaster is in a similar predicament.
All that aside, I liked the look of Jonjo Shelvey in that slightly deeper midfield role, and I thought the confidence both Ross Barkley and Dele Ali showed was refreshing. Both seeking the ball constantly.
Hodgson's most interesting dilemma will be who he takes as the Strikers. Rooney, Sturridge, Kane, Walcott, Vardy, Ings, Berahino all in with a shout.

Last night's team certainly played with a bit of freedom and confidence but Lithuania are not anywhere near average level in Europe. If Woy gets the mix right and includes some of the pacey youngsters in the upcoming friendlies we will have a better measure of their real potential. The manager is the problem not the solution imo...
