Watching an excellent programme on Fergie at the moment. A clear, and probably instinctive, genius. Also of course a total monomaniac with a level of dedication to his trade completely alien to me. The longevity and continual motivation to achieve more, even when you have won everything, rebuilding the team on a 4 year cycle, getting rid of players seemingly at the top of their game, attention to every detail at every level of the club...........a very rare beast, only Wenger and perhaps Klopp at Mainz and Dortmund seem cut from the same cloth in the current game, Oh that QPR could find someone similar at the start of their career, and give them a chance rather than moaning about the last result.

I think you will enjoy it Col, more about leadership than football. I didn't bother with the Rooney praisefest because it was obviously a sports film and had Lineker fronting it up (nothing against Rooney, but I don't need to know about his home life) whereas this was made by Nick Robinson. Another person who came across well was, amazingly, Ronaldo, who clearly worships Ferguson. I read recently that Ronaldo turned himself from a show pony into a work horse at United, working relentlessly on every aspect of his game including scoring 'ordinary' goals. Mourinho (his relentless criticism of Wenger aside, I have a lot of time for him too) also a massive fan of Fergie, and I think he knows that despite the trophies he has yet to achieve anything on the same scale which is why he wants to be at Chelsea a long time this time round. How he deals with his current problems will tell us a lot about whether he is in the same league. Of course given his slow start Fergie wouldn't have lasted 18 months in the job with the current mindset in the game.

He must be a genius, yes in his last season the other teams at the top were poor but the team he left Moyes was terrible, absolutely shocking, I suspect the worst to win a Premier title by some way.

I'm hoping to watch it later. Ronaldo is a much, much better player than some people give him credit for being. He may love himself, but he has worked tirelessly at his game and is only 2nd in the World to Messi as the World's best imo. Ferguson was truly amazing.
My lad watched the Rooney doc and found it fascinating, but then he is that much younger and probably easier impressed.
