QPR’s Gladwin close to completing loan move By David McIntyre 09/10/2015 please log in to view this image Ben Gladwin could complete a loan move back to Swindon Town by the end of the day. The QPR midfielder, 23, has started only one league match since being signed from the Robins during the summer and has held talks with Chris Ramsey about his lack of first-team action. Gladwin’s last appearance came when head coach Ramsey sent him on as a late substitute in the home defeat against Nottingham Forest almost a month ago. “I’ll probably be having a chat with him. I’ll see what he says about my chances of playing and move forward from there,” Gladwin said earlier this week. “I understand that we’ve got a strong squad and competition for places is very tough. I’ve just got to keep working hard. 'Fans on Twitter discuss Gladwin's possible move “I can play in either of the wide positions or behind the striker, but obviously we’ve got very good players in those positions. “Everyone wants to get on the pitch and play football and that’s what I’ll be looking to do.” Gladwin has also admitted his fitness has been affected by his limited opportunities so far this season. “Obviously because of the lack of games I’m not totally up to speed at the moment,” he said. “That’s something that I’ll be looking to change in the coming weeks. I need to get a little bit fitter.”
Understandable. Best thing for him is to get first team play. He hadn't caught the eye yet, unlike Luongo
Although it's a shame he's not had a chance to establish himself getting some more games under his belt might serve us well if we can recall him in Jan. I do think CR and his refusal to use his subs will have affected this.
Good move if short term to regain his fitness then get him back for the tough winter fixture period when squad rotation comes a factor.......
Don't think he's had enough of a chance and is one of the few left-footed players we have for what that is worth. If this promotes Hoilett or Traore to the squad then it's not a good thing IMO. Would have liked him to get a Championship loan if he had to go. I'm sure he'd get in the side at Rotherham, Bolton etc.
Real shame that someone like Matty Phillips (£10 million?!) is consistently getting in the team ahead of players like Gladwin. Wish Ramsey would have the balls to drop him, he's been well out of sorts recently.
I don't see them as competing for the same spot. Gladwin strikes me as one of the few players in the squad best suited to a 4-4-2
Wasn't a comment aimed at them competing for the same spot, more directed towards the fact that Phillips has been very below par and doesn't deserve a place in the side at present. Agree with you on the 4-4-2 point, I see Gladwin as being a key part of the side in the coming years. Realistically we won't be holding on to the likes of Fer and Chery long term. I would hope if promotion or the play offs is out of reach, Ramsey switches his focus a bit and gives Gladwin an extended run in the team.
So much for encouraging youth. Ben Gladwin goes back to Swindon one month loan agreed... Frankie Sutherland and Jake Mulraney gone to Dagenham & Redbridge on loan as well...
Seen the fellow for one match only vs Cardiff. I thought he did ok, looked to be lacking a little bit of confidence; but didn't seem to do too much wrong. Given that Leroy Fer and Sandro Raniere are now returning to the fold, it's not a bad move for both the player and the club. I agree though, I hope that we do not give up too soon on this fellow.
