The football ground guide recommends drinking in a Holiday Inn 15 mins from the ground. Great place to build a football stadium.

Agree Watford. I had many debates over the years with Reading fans over this point.
I just hope when we get our new Mittal Arena that they incorporate loads of pubs/bars. Saying all that, have you ever seen Reading fans? Old people with flasks, not my cup of tea (pardon the pun). They have no need for pubs.

I went to Oxford's new ground a couple of years ago. Someone had constructed a huge marquee in a car park by the ground selling bottles and food. Don't see why this couldn't be replicated at the likes of Reading and Coventry which are built miles from anything.

agree. I guess i am old school, a dying breed of the old football fan. These new younger fans seem to want the Arsenal approach. Hot dogs at half time complete with stupid American style caps. The days of a pie and pint seem to be lower division teams

There will always be people who want a pint before the game. Personally I probably drink before a game maybe three or four times a season normally at away games but when in Shepherds Bush on a Saturday the pubs seem to be rammed. At all clubs I'd expect at least 10-20% of the attendees at a game consume alcohol beforehand. At some clubs I'm sure it's much higher.

Cannot believe those muppets have now put us on TV on Thursday 3rd against Reading!
Thursday FFS!
Why?

They have to find a way to fill up the schedules with live sport. Having lost out on the rights to show the Europa League they have nothing live to show on a Thursday.

Sky never had the Europa league.

Ratings on a Thursday must be appalling. No idea why they bother.

good luck trying to find a pub near the ground lads as it in the middle of nowhere on some retail park.

Whenever I've gone in recent times the pub right next to the train station is packed with Rangers.
There's a bus shuttle service to the ground from there.
