The island containing England, Wales, and Scotland. The name is broadly synonymous with Great Britain, but the longer form is more usual for the political unit

So we're all agreed that it's unofficial - or simply a mere coloquialism which actually means **** all - Great Britain is England Wales and Scotland. The UK is GB and Northern Ireland.
