Two "big" managers were wanting the job even before they were officially asked to be considered.

BBC making a big deal out of the fact the transfer committee staying in place. Thing is with Klopp or Carlo it should work better, they know the European game better, they're already used to working under a similar DoF system, they have bigger profiles to attract players and do you really think either of them will compromise with a bunch of faceless men. They'll know who they want and make it happen.

Rodgers after the first window always struck me as a man who gave a transfer wish list and when told he couldn't have Ashley Williams etc said 'ok'.

Ah..We share his bitterness over being conned over that big piece of rotting meat.

Hes maybe getting confused over big club and big empty stadium....natural under the circumstances. First PL club to collect state benefits....

It's FSG that have to change if they want the club to progress, they've tried their strategy for 3 and a half seasons and it clearly hasn't worked despite the money thrown at it.

When they initially took over they had a fight on their hands to make the club solvent, self-sufficient and financially in the black. The recruitment policy was bound up in their overall financial strategy to make the club a viable force again and not go bankrupt. They've accomplished this through sound business decisions and good partnerships and sponsorship deals. It's in a much much better financial state now so the transfer and player policy could be altered a bit where necessary to reflect that sure. Having said that they haven't exactly been scared to spend big on a few players over the years. It's mostly those players who have been compromise or strategy buys that have led to on pitch problems (except Lovren, yeah Lovren, and Lallana, I'm looking at you)

I agree they've done a great job on the financial and commercial side of the club but they have listened to the wrong people on football matters and strategy and what works in baseball won't necessarily work in another sport.

Anyway it's cost them mega-money to find out the hard way that they need an experienced head in the managers chair.

I think Simon Mignolet can be a better keeper under a better manager.

Paul Joyce - Rodgers had final say on transfers but felt he had to horse trade at times. He accepted Firmino as long as it didn't impact on the arrival of Benteke.

Some really interesting comments from Tony Barrett this morning:

    - There was clashes immediately over #Sturridge (club wanted him, Rodgers wanted Dempsey)

    - #Rodgers wanted #Allen for 15m but the committee thought he was too expensive. #LFC

    - #Rodgers wanted one player, the committee wanted another

    - #Rodgers' good faith in agreeing to signing #Firmino (committee) was repaid by #LFC meeting #Benteke's clause.

    - #Rodgers had stopped believing in the committee and the committee in him. #LFC

    - #Sakho's contract renewal was for me the first sign that #Rodgers's time was limited. #LFC (Implies the renewal was initiated by FSG, not Rodgers)

    - The club feel that if they get a manager who believes in the commitee signings & gives them a system to flourish in. #LFC

To be honest, I think everyone can improve under Klopp and his team and I include Enrique, Mario, Lovren, Lallana, Skrtel.

As Davenunited mentioned earlier, Klopp expected to agree 3 year deal by the end of the week. <ok>
