I like Klopp, and he may be a more realisitic long term solution. However, as a manager to step in now and sort us out I dont think there are many if any who could do better than ancelotti.

With Klopp aswell he is a little bit of an unknown quantity, with no Prem experience and dodgy patches in his career. (Similar to BR.)

I really like the idea of Klopp, but to get us back to the highest level i think Ancelotti would be the man and could hold the fort for five years until Stevie G becomes our gaffer. Would love Stevie to come in and learn from Ancelotti as assistant

SOD, Mac and John Achterberg could be on their way as well.

Klopp mentioned he would be bringing his entire team in his new job.

BBC Sport's Ben Smith has got a few more details on Brendan Rodgers' departure:

"FSG's decision to sack Rodgers was made before today's Merseyside derby but the owners did not want to disrupt preparations for the match by making an announcement before the game. Even a victory at Goodison Park would not have prevented Rodgers losing his job.

"Rodgers was not told at Goodison Park. He was visited at home by Ian Ayre and I am told he took the news with dignity and good grace. Many of the players are now off on international duty and so there was was no chance to say goodbye to them. FSG wanted Rodgers to learn of the news from them and no one else and hence the decision to tell him within an hour of the result."

Wouldn't surprise me. New manager will want to bring his own staff and it's not like they've been part of the furniture.

Harsh on them though, they've done nothing wrong. Hope they both find new jobs sharpish <ok>

    I agree with this.

Klopp there is an element of a gamble but I think Carlo would go in now and do the business.

I also agree long term than Klopp would perhaps be better.

But we would get to see 'that' eyebrow and it would annoy Chelsea fan too.

I'd rather he go into youth and learn his trade... I don't see a manager when I look at Gerrard. He was never the most gifted tactically when he played and doesn't have much of a personality.

Carragher on the other hand... now he should be in the set up as an assistant manager. The guy has tactics running through him.

I think it's a nonsense decision. The manager should go into every season with the confidence of the board. If he didn't have that then he should've been sacked in May, if he did have that backing then how has it been completely eroded by a fairly poor start? Every team will go through periods of poor form and if Rodgers starting this season poorly is enough to get him the boot then there was never the confidence in him in the first place.

3 points off 4th, 4 points off 2nd, 6 points off 1st. Whatever you think of Rodgers it was hardly panic time.

Now a new manager has to take over what is clearly an unblanced squad and turn it all around with 3 months until the next transfer window and 30 league games to play before he can make the serious changes this summer.

I mean at least give Rodgers the chance to beat us like he always does, we were always taking points off you before he showed up! :D

For what it's worth I think Ancelloti has got to be the number one choice if you can get him.
