I stopped going to England games in the late 90s as I got sick and tired of the same old jingoistic WW2, anti IRA bollocks. How people think it helps the team is totally beyond me.

Mind, I do get irritated by the snoring at Vicarage road sometimes - it often wakes me up!

<laugh>

At least most of those battles are less than a century old...

There is a minority of regressive *****s who think it is acceptable to drag the political and religious past up at a football match.

Mindy is one of those *****s along with Mick, Rebel and Ciaran. Definitely a few of the dimmer Huns too.
Am I?

I went down the mosque last week and started singing the song from the old Danepak bacon advert. 99% of them complained and I had to explain I was merely attempting to improve the ambience with a spirited sing-a-long...
Something similar happens in Glasgow every July

So some offensive things are OK and others aren't?

That's a false dichotomy. You cannot dilute an issue like this down to offensive/inoffensive, unless that is you do not have the wherewithal to counter specific points and therefore have reduced the debate to a level you are comfortable with?

It isn't. I honestly don't think singing Irish Republican songs at the Football by people who haven't a clue what they are singing about is OK but I don't give that much of a **** to be whining about it on one of the most offensive message boards on the Internet.

If a song or a joke offends you then you are a spastic ...

I'd rather songs about Ireland, IRA, Irish politics stopped at Celtic games as I'm not interested by them but I don't find them offensive.

Again, there is no correlation between the two.

Nobody has paid an entry to this place, it is also mostly anonymous and I seriously doubt there are any children present. The only reason for bringing it into the discussion is because you cannot clearly defend your position.

Who on here said they were offensive? They are distasteful and inappropriate for the time and the place.

What position?
