Good points Bob. I really find it baffling that Ramsey continues with the same shape game after game when it is clearly not working and our performances and, as a result, confidence deteriorate. If we were playing flowing football and getting the odd defeat or draw you could accept it, but we've been served up some very poor performances and nothing appears to be changing...

Didn't this formation work at Hull just last weekend, and in some earlier games. I haven't seen our better results, but according to all I read there wasn't much wrong with the formation then?

I've seen only the games shown on TV where we have been bad. We have lost mostly to bad defensive mistakes , Angella's very bad ball watching for F's first, and Konchesky failing to see and get in and cover it, Ale's suicide ball for their 2nd, Green's cok up home to Forest are hard to forget, but there have been many others Ramsey tried to tweek the set up early enough Saturday by substituting Mackie for Cheri, but when he loses Mackie, another goal and then Austin as well, we hadn't got much hope. The formation is a good one, better then 4 4 2 for me, but the players need to get their fingers out. The front man needs supporting, and sometimes the front 3 have got to get back to. I think the 3 are a bit too lightweight, Fer coming back may help that. Sandro taking a place in the 2 might give us a bit more backbone too. Barton is the one we miss. Think it will take time to for the players to adapt to each other, and for many of them a new league, and a new formation.

Mourinho bought players like Oscar and Hazard and made them work back in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3.
Also, Warnock's team played 2 defensive midfielders and that team was incredibly attacking.

And that's why my friend , they are class players. It's also why mourinho didn't buy phillips or chery. I hear what you are saying Col but what works for one doesn't always for another and that point confirms my opinion that it's the standard of players in a formation that really counts.

Think I'm just pissed off like most people after witnessing such a miserable performance. After watching the game and again the highlights or lowlights in our case I see our defensive frailties actually stem from Luangos role. He has what appears to be this free type of role which leaves a massive space between our 2 holding midfielders and Austin. I like the lad and believe he is a player for the future but not quite clever enough to play this role yet. Fer would be much more suited to it. That's if Ramsay is to continue with this set up. Or as silly as it sounds another defensive midfielder to allow the likes of chery and Phillips the freedom to play how we would like them to, attacking. Just throwing ideas out there.

I agree to a point, but whatever standard the players are, they either work back or not. In fact, I'd say that the better the player, the less likely they are sometimes to put in the hard yards defensively.
A good coach gets the players doing these things.

I think a 4-1-4-1 with Ale in front of the back four would be more likely to produce a bit more cohesion in midfield but you need some pace in the wide roles. Austin hasn't been that involved in the present set-up, his injury may give Ramsey a chance to explore other game plans...

Maybe 4-3-3 then?

Just jumping in this Faurlin debate. I personally rated him but after 3 ACL injuries he will never be the player we first saw at QPR. His attitude is fantastic, his passing is good most of the time, he never really had any pace in the first place and he can read the game well. I honestly think he would be suited more in a 3 man central midfield and having henry next to him actually hinders his game. Realistically what is Henry going to do with the ball that others aren't capable of?
I still can't get over the fact we are playing with 2 defensive midfielders, neither with any pace, in front of a back 4. Luango for all his running doesn't really offer the support that Austin needs up top. I for one think it's about time we played 2 up. The counter argument to that is that we will get over run in midfield.......well we are anyway but and it's a big but, if we have players capable of retaining the ball in the centre of the park then this becomes less of an issue. Ramsay has to realise that our set up is flawed. Subbing Chery like he did showed me exactly that. Why buy a creative player to constantly track back?
Spot on
Being saying this for ages

That pass for Chery was sublime and perfectly weighted. I'd rAther him than Fabregas. The day keeps on giving.ex scum player scores, Costa off.

What I like most about Faurlin is his vision and how he anticipates the game so well. His assist for Chery yesterday was a good example. Quick to the loose ball across the middle and already knew what to do with it; no second touch necessary. Sublime.

Saw the title to this and almost fell off my chair. Ahhh an old thread, while I can understand people being concerned about his injuries but to question this mans ability is ****ing nuts. Give the man a new contract!

He is currently on his way back and most QPR fans will want him to sustain fitness and performance
I hope he does
Should be club captain IMO
Plus on record as saying best player he has played him was Adel
The pair of them should be considered QPR legends IMO

Him and Henry we have a chance IMO
