As the captain, surely if you sense complacency, you make sure you it doesn't exist? I imagine Stevie was probably all too wrapped up in the moment himself tbh, as that was his type (and I wouldn't have had him any other way!!)

can't see what difference that would have made. If Gerrard hadn't miscontrolled a pass he'd successfully taken thousands of times followed by him slipping, the tactics may well have worked. The tactics didn't cause him to slip either. He was helping out in defence in our own half FFS. Sometimes bad luck just happens.

That mistake and slip cost us the title. The league challenge ended right there. Chelsea parked one of the greatest buses seem by mankind in the second half and there was no answer from us.

The slip didn't cost you the title ffs. It was a single moment in a seasons of 100s of moments.

did the glorious day at Palace. These contributed to it but were jot responsible.

Accept your failure for what it was, a good effort where you fell short.

title was already gone when we played palace - the only hope we had was getting some absurdly high goal difference and hope we did the same on the last day.

you are right though, at the end of the day the best team in the league won it. we won something ridiculous like 13 of our last 15 to even get that close.

and who knows if we could have held on to a draw in the second have even had Stevie not slipped. It was Chelsea, not Dagenham.

But, he didn't slip because we were gung ho or anything to do with tactics. That's just people trying to protect Gerrard and shift the blame to Rodgers somehow in my opinion. But the slip (not tactics) did cost us the draw by HT, that's undeniable.

I have said this before but here it is again, the slip did not cost you, the failure to control a simple pass (which led to the slip) cost you <ok>

root cause v cause Diego

No bad control = no goal
No slip = no goal

I don't disagree though as no bad control = no slip so it's fair. But there were 2 chances to prevent the goal, both went wrong.

Well, you could go one further and say it's Sakho's fault for passing to Gerrard <doh>

anyway, Miscontrolly G doesn't have the same ring to it as Slippy G

And he didn't say "Don't let this Miscontrol!! " after the previous match ended. You're fekking with some quality folklore Diego.
