A poster off the RTG died a couple of days ago. I'd never heard of him till yesterday but I'm sure some of you will have. From what I understand Streaker often split opinion and sometimes clashed with poster. Yet the turn out his thread is incredible. He'd had a very tough couple of years leading to his death, the details I'm not sure of. It's got me thinking about this place. Joe who's currently dealing with health problem. SOMB with his heart attack and SAFC83 when he felt his mental health battle come to a head. It's made me realise how devastated I'd be if we lost any of you. People can be flippant in regards to message boards, 'it's not real', 'you're just talking to words' but it's not, we're all real people with lives and individual circumstances. I've been fortunate enough to meet many of the posters on this board, it feels like a family. It's been a pleasure to look you lads in the eye and put a face to the words. I've been invited by Smug into his home, just yesterday I received a package from Tees with a couple of training top in it, Terry blew me out of the water with a wonderful gesture and I keep in regular contact with 83 who's offered all manner of support. Raw who sorted me and my lady free tickets and treated us like guests for the day. Home and away who oftern gives me lifts and wonderfull company to games. These real people humble me and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I don't have the money to bail anyone out, a car to drive to somebody's aid, I don't have much to offer but an ear and time for all of you ever you need to confide. Not just the lads I've mentioned but anybody. Don't know where I'm really going with this other than the best of health and happiness to every single one of you. If you ever have the chance to meet anybody from here I urge you to do it. And RIP to Streaker, I never knew him yet he still got me thinking about something that really matters. You glorious motherfuckers, real people. Thank you Streaker This is much much more than a message board.
Must admit I've often wondered about this. Would we know if something happened to someone? I don't think we would. Bit grim... I love you ****ers
I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. Some of us are no spring chickens! I guess we'd just not notice if some of us just stopped posting.
Cracking post Bri, and thanks for the mention. There's some great folk on this forum. Long may the forum and camaraderie continue.
You and me both mate! Although I do appreciate you have been more bad then me and yours was out of your control. Got any more holidays booked for this year?
Can I 'throw my hat into the ring' 'cos I'm sick . . . . really ****ing sick This might be a good time to revisit the 'next to go' lottery thingy, 'cos I bet that there'll be a few of us now that are ready to give up By lad . . . . that sounds so depressing, doesn't it, and I'm never like that Bollocks . . . . after we beat the cockneys on saturday everything will be rosey again p.s. no . . . . I'm not pissed
I pop into that site every now and again and noticed the massive response to his loss. He must have made quite an impression..RIP..
I know it's a soppy bollocks thread to post and not usually this sensitive but I would be really ****ing gutted if we lost somebody.
Had a great time tonight with my lad and nephews. Quality conversation and good company courtesy of @Funky Dick. Good to bump into @Gordon Armstrong & @MrRAWhite ... Pleasure to meet you both
There used to be an excellent prolific poster on BBC606 who I believe was called RedanWhite. I think him and Cestria used have a few right ding dong spats every now and again.. I wonder where he went to?
I used to see Redan (his name was, and probably still is Gary) at home games, but I haven't seen him for years He was quite an eccentric
He seemed like a great lad from what I remember, and used to sort digs out for some of the away fans. I never always agreed with him but always appreciated the thought and effort he put into his posts..
