... he did have a decent second half ... and credit for the goal ... but he is a defensive weak link and it would be good to see some competition for the right back berth ...
... nothing wrong with putting the ball out for the corner ... Vards was most at fault for the first goal - if he hadn't set off on his bike thinking we had cleared it he would have stopped Grealish before he got the shot away ...
Anyone know why Benalouane and Fuchs weren't on the bench and Simpson was? Was really looking forward to seeing Fuchs play but he hasn't got a look in yet, mainly because Schlupp's been so good. Like Inler, it's incredible that the captain of a quality international team isn't getting into our starting 11.
Why was the left back not out cutting out the cross and not just standing marking space at the near post. Having said that it was his cross put behind to win us the corner de laat scored from. But apart from one other cross it was like playing with 10 men.
... you obviously watched a different game to me ... Schlupp had a poor first half but was not alone .. in the second half his pace down the left was a constant threat and, IMHO, a significant factor in dismantling Villa's defence capabilities ... I got the distinct impression that Ranieri had encouraged him to go directly at them at every opportunity after half time ... further he is still a young guy and I'm pretty sure that any defensive positioning he takes will be on direction from Wes or Huth ... still it's all about opinions ...
Ye, i think Villa came out the second half to soak up pressure, hold onto the lead and hit us on the break. This meant Jeff could get forward more.
I can see Fuchs coming on mid game and pushing Schlupp up to midfield quite a bit - and whilst it sounds defensive, this is actually very attacking - Jeff is almost hindered by his defensive ability as he is so destructive on the wing! I do like him at LB though...
