    The goalkeeping saga is fast becoming an embarrassment. With three weeks to go to the start of the season those who run the club should get out from behind their wall of silence and explain just what is going on. For instance a number of questions come to mind.

    1. If Lonnerghan is still a possibility for next season why has he not featured in any of the friendlies?

    2. If the out of contract David Lucas is merely training with the club why wasn't the same arrangement used in the case of Ian Turner? It makes no sense for our main target to be out training with another club.

    3. Further, if David Lucas is merely training with the club why play him in the Falkirk match? Surely it was more important to play one of the other keepers to give them experience since, if this saga carries on much longer one of them may well be forced to play in the first league match.

    4. Do the club management really believe that David Lucas would be a good choice to solve the problem given his age and that he has been released by a couple of lower league clubs in the last few years?

    Morning tommyt....<ok>

    Andrew Lonergan has posted on Twitter that the reason he is taking so long to decide his future is due to his daughter being in and out of hospital the last few weeks. It is obvious that he will be moving on but his priority right now is his daughter's well being and no one could fault Lonners for taking his time.

    Lucas is not just training with the club but is at PNE on trial with a view to signing for PNE. PB still wants to sign Turner but due to financial constraint can't make a move until Lonergan's future has been decided. I believe that PB sees Lucas as PNE's second keeper behind Turner, or he is using Lucas just in case Lonergan's future is still undecided by the commencement of the new season.

    I think most PNE fans would be very disappointed if Lucas ended up as the No1 keeper and understandably so as it would be seen as a massive step backwards.

    <ok>

    :)

    Thank you plumber. Your post has shed some light on the issue. I agree that Andrew's first responsibility is to his daughter. I, along with others hope that she will get better soon and hope that he can then settle his future.

    I also hope that we don't miss out on Turner and finish with Lucas as first choice. I do think that the board should take a punt on this. Goalkeeper is to important a position to mess about with.
