Matt Damon played the Jason Bourne roll brilliantly imo.
He was also excellent in Good Will Hunting which I thought was a brilliant film.
Agree on Tom Cruise, ****ing ****. Same as De Caprio although I did enjoy Gangs of New York.
There's certain actors I tend to avoid like the plague.
    Cruise
    De Caprio
    Vin Diesel
That Belgian **** who does the Coors advert
Steven Segal - more wooden than a ****ing pit prop.

Cruise is the worst, he's ****ing shocking. Same as that idiot from the Matrix, Keanu Reeves, awful.

I really like DiCaprio though, have you seen Shutter Island? I thought that was right up there, he was brilliant in it, Ben Kingsley superb as well.

I don't mind the films that Matt Damon is in, such as Saving Private Ryan, Oceans, I just think he's a bit soft looking to play the action guy, still I'm sure he's not too fussed what I think!

Uncanny innit mate, he's a dead ringer.

Don't think Snoop was cast very well and Real MuthafuckinG's should have made the soundtrack (Dre probably vetoed it) but aside from that it was a class film!

I can't see Tom Hardy as Bond for some reason although I think he's a quality actor. Bit young maybe.

Sol Campbell on the other hand would be awesome. What do people think about black actors playing white characters? Idris Elba has been suggested once or twice for Bond. Personally I think if it's supposed to be a white guy it should be a white actor, of the correct nationality preferably, and if it's a black character the actor should be black.

Skin colour isn't important but getting the character right is I think.

Bond was half scottish, half swiss, I think (memory, octopussy?), might limit the choice of actors.

Well that's true but you know what I mean, someone British. Wouldn't sit right having an American playing Bond for example.

I think initially Ian Fleming created Bond as the quintessential Englishman but after seeing Connery in Dr No liked him so much that thereafter he decided to make him Scottish.

I never considered that. Sounds totally plausible, but sort of disappointing.

I'm pretty sure Jason Bourne is a middle aged man in the books from the start. Not a young'un like Matt Damon. But they changed the storyline for the film series and I thought MD was brilliant. Nowt wrong with changing the age, storyline, etc.

But a black James Bond? Seriously? Are we so ****ed up that it's now not PC to say that that idea is just ****ing ludicrous?

You're right it's quite possible to adjust ages and whatnot and pull it off, Hardy isn't even that far off the right age I just don't like him for the role for some reason even though he's been class every film I've seen him in. Mind you I wasn't sure about Daniel Craig and he's been great, despite the actual Bond films he's been in being a little so-so with the exception of Casino Royale.

Yep, you'll get a lot of people saying you're a dinosaur for saying Bond shouldn't be black, not me though. If Fleming wrote him as white then he should remain so in my book. Not a racial thing just common sense.

It's a bit like Jesus innit? Why do they always portray him as a ginger ****?
Nee ****s ever seen him anyway seeing as how he never existed.
Maybe Relic can put me right. They're from round about the same time.
Relic pre dates Persia. I bet he can remember Mesopotamia.

Oh I get the dinosaur **** from my kids and the missus all the time!

But to me, it's just as you said, common sense. Racial just doesn't come into it. He was written as a white Royal Navy Commander.

Maybe things will turn full circle and we'll eventually see Russell Crowe portray Nelson Mandela. Surely, nowt wrong with that?.....

Then it has to be Gerard Butler.

Everything adds up. Right age. Right accent. Right colour. Looks the part. Good actor.
