I think I'll try one of those 3 doubles and a treble at Doncaster with decent priced favs

    13.55 Gutaifan 2/1 PP
    14.30 Not Never 9/2 Coral
16.15 Toofi (almost an anagram of Hoofit so hope my old fav doesn't win instead) 7/2 BS

    3.05 DONCASTER- PALLASATOR- 6/1

Not the greatest renewal of this and today is his day, has been always on the door of a big prize . On his 2014 he runs away with this and altho he flopped Lto he does have a habit of doing that after a good run in which he ran close to his 2014 form at Goodwood a repeat of that run he wins

I know you can never try to second guess Sir Duckegg, but Pallasator has disappointed too many times and I believe his stable mate, William of Orange has a great chance in this today.
    Unfortunately Pricewise agrees

Watching Doncaster yesterday, it is apparent that the far side rail is to be avoided. I backed Halation, who was held up in the rear. When he went to close up on the leaders, the actual leader folded and he passed that horse but was never in contention as the winner and the placed horses all came up the centre of the track. This presents something of a quandary for Friday’s action on the round course.

Interesting that whilst tobacco advertising is banned, e-cigarettes are allowed to sponsor the Doncaster Cup; however, the race is of no betting interest.

In the Mallard handicap (2:30), I expect that the county set will be piling into old boy Forgotten Voice under Jim Crowley. I think the race is more likely to fall to Not Never (just touched off by Polarisation in the Melrose at York on easy ground) or FUTURE EMPIRE (beaten a neck by Pressure Point at Musselburgh) and prefer the latter as it is not York form.

The six runners in the 4:50 all appear to be horses that like to be up with the pace or leading. Haalick has not been seen since his July debut win and he and fellow debut victor Wall Of Fire could be anything. Tashweeq was odds on when beating a large field of maidens and is not dismissed. MOHAB was well outpointed in a York Group 3 behind Recorder but drops in class here and is given another chance at better than field odds.

Over at Sandown, there is a good card being wasted on a dead Friday; however, the 3:30 looks to be between No Delusion, winner of a three-runner affair last time, and John Gosden’s ALKAWN, raised just three pounds for winning his handicap debut and retaining Dane O’Neill’s services, which looks the bet of the day.

Lovely day for it. I'd take a little ew poke on Snowy Dawn in the 4.25 @12s. Won this last year of a lower mark, although no jockey claim this time round. Have a great day.

When told by Nick Luck on Channel 4 that Gutaifan had broken the track record, what was Richard Hannon’s response? “They went quick”. No sh*t Sherlock...

Interesting how many trainers are now happy to say that the ground at the Ebor meeting was ‘loose’ and ‘tacky’. Time to tear those pages out of the form book?

Gosden said yesterday that in the Juddmonte International all the jockeys bar one sat too far back and that would not be happening again. He has apparently said that Golden Horn will run tomorrow provided that the going is “Good or Good to Soft”. If ‘soft’ is in the going, expect Gleneagles to defect, so hope that there is not too much rain.

Well done to anybody that was on York also-ran Curbyourenthusiasm in the Mallard Stakes. I knew I had done my money when James Doyle set out to make all on Future Empire. When they came into the straight he stayed on the far side rail, where the ground is obviously dead, and dropped his hands when half the field had swept by down the middle of the course.

These jockeys never actually watch the previous races do they? It has been obvious since yesterday that the strip of ground nearest to the far side rail should be avoided. Doyle might as well have shot his horse through the head at the home turn.
