Hello, everyone. If my regular readers will allow it I’ll nominate one across the Welsh border of the morrow. I’m still convinced that they are up to something! Connections that is, incidentally, not the Welsh.
IMPULSIVE AMERICAN (5.45 Chepstow) – was trained in France for his first 9 races and although he remained a maiden across The Channel he finished a decent 2nd in his last pair of heats in that fellow EU member state. Subsequently purchased by those old rogues, the Pipe’s, he’s had one run to date in this Isle when a disappointing 9th ‘oooooooooooooooop’ at Carlisle a couple of weeks ago. Impulsive American was well supported that day though (4’s into 2/1) and genuine excuses can be offered as the old boy was far, far too keen in the early to mid part of the contest. Long term I’m sure Impulsive American has been purchased to go hurdling but the fact that the Pipe’s are preserving with him on the level makes me believe they think they can inflict quite a bit of damage off his current perch of 64 first. I think this is quite lenient actually based on his last couple of runs in France. The impressive apprentice, Tom Marquand, has been booked and takes a further 5 pounds off the geldings back which can only be viewed as a positive. Meanwhile, the old rogues are in good form so far this month with a 36% strike rate having been achieved at the time of writing. Meanwhile, re his opponents I don’t think they are the greatest bunch ever to face the old boy starter.
Good luck, pilgrims.
