Beef stew and dumplings. 9/10.

I would suggest that someone gives the ‘Doncaster Executive’ a dictionary so that they can look up the word ‘legend’ in it. Cor bally blinkin’ blimey, I say, cor bally blinkin' blimey.

Wednesday's lunch on a Tuesday SBC, make sure you take an evening walk to burn off the excess <ok>

Mind you, the last time I had 'Meat Dumplings' was in Warsaw recently and it's safe to say I will not be eating them soon if at all possible, the meat filling wasn't what I expected!

Reports popping up on Twitter that Joseph O'Brien will retire at the end of the season. Haven't verified it yet but news seems to have broken about half an hour ago.

Stoute doesn't often send them up the M6 but if you can get better than 2-1 Thetis should be worth a bet in the 3.25 at Carlisle.

I see that Charlie Hills has spoken about Jadaayil. Revered in many quarters as being the ‘reincarnation of Pegasus’ she disappointed ‘oooooooooooooop’ at Haydock Park last week. He reveals that he was shocked by the performance but later tests revealed that she ‘scoped dirty’ after the run. As a result the old love is now taking it easy and is on antibiotics.

Just to clarify it is Jadaayil who is taking it easy and is on antibiotics and not Charlie Hills. The 2YO should be back on the track by the end of the term. Hopefully, she can, at that point, go some way to restoring her reputation.

From the betting point of view, a disappointing start to the St Leger meeting with fields full of horses easily overlooked on form, especially those that ran at York. They should have made the weights 8st in the Legends race so that most of the oldies spent the morning in the sauna! I bet the Angry Ant can still do the weight, though.

Just ten pounds cover the field in the handicap at 4:10. Sakhee’s Return has not been seen for two months since beating Heartbreak Hero in an apprentices’ race. The bottom and top weights both met Easy Tiger at Newmarket last time: Akeed Champion gave him four pounds and a short-head beating in a Class 4 event; whilst MISTER BRIGHTSIDE gave him ten pounds and a two-length beating in a Class 3 event, and can improve again for Frankie even off a six pound higher marker.

I've no idea how David Pipe has managed to get Standing Ovation into the handicap hurdle (3.50) at Uttoxeter off a mark of 120, but the same horse won a listed handicap chase off 127 a couple of weeks ago and before that dotted up in a novice hurdle. Looks as near to a good thing as you'll find today I reckon and the early 7/4 is long gone - best price now 11/8.

"What's that Mr Chuckles, 10000 pounds to win on Gannicus in the 3.35 at Doncaster? Certainly sir"

THAT man has to have leading claims in that heat. Surely though you’d have to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic to wager in it?!?

On this subject though I wonder if any of those in attendance back at Sandown in April have written in requesting their money back?!?

On the subject of news. All the papers, today, are full of some story about ‘the longest rain’. Can’t understand it, myself, as round my way we haven’t had any precipitation for days.

Small bet on Tilinisi in the first at Uttoxeter (13:40).

(Lunch: Home-made Chilli-con-Carne made with sausage meat, kidney beans, corn, etc. Spicy/hot. 10/10 for the missus!).
