Well I hope he never joins the fire brigade id hate to watch my house burn down while he decides which helmet to wear
I thought we had a £2 million bid accepted for him, so why have Everton suddenly doubled the price with no other apparent suitors. As for the player himself, I'd take him if he played more to the needs of the team rather than how he wants to play. So I'd be wanting him to try and run beyond the defence more and have more movement to create more chances to the team. The reason I think we didn't win games like Cov and Palace at home last season when they came and put 10 behind the ball and we had to break them down is largely down to the fact Yakubu, our focal point in attack, was far too static and did look to create oppurtunities for the midfield causing our attack to be slow and static. However, there are two different things that give me hope that Yakubu can do this. One is that he will be our player next year and so he'll have to work had for the shirt rather than just a loanee knowing the Premier League is waiting regardless of how well the team do and anoher is that there were times last season that he did run in behind and create chances for team mates. Most notably, those times were at the start of his spell when he scored 7 in 9 or something and he had to prove himself in a Leicester shirt. There was also Boro away when again he had a point to prove to the home fans and then Watford at home when he was dropped, came of the bench, again with a point to prove, and he was unstoppable that day (probably the best I've seen him play in a Leicester shirt). So a fully motivated Yakubu will be score for fun in this league but whether we would get that is a different matter. I also hope we don't get held to ransom by him and his wage demands and that if he signs it'll be on our terms. There's little doubt though that Yakubu will do what is best for his bank account rather than his career. The fact he isn't in Everton's pre-season squad shows he isn't wanted there but I still think a lucrative offer from somewhere like Turkey or Russia means he'll be on the first plane to Istanbul or Moscow.
The 2M was just paper talk, We then bid 3.5M for him and as far as i know it was accepted but there was 2 stumbling blocks, Yaks wages and he didnt want to play in this league. Now he has realised no one else wants him he may want to sign for us now
