Does the England football team interest you?

  • Every match they play is important and I try to watch

  • I might miss some friendlies but everything else I try to watch

  • I watch the tournament finals matches once every two years

  • I might watch them if they play a big team once in a blue moon

  • I no longer have any interest in the England football team

Would be interested to see how many others are as apathetic about England nowadays as me. I didn't even know when the England game was on yesterday until I turned the tv on and it was half way through the first half. Suffice to say I switched over sharpish. I could only name Switzerland as another team in our group apart from San Marino.

And it's all because I don't care.

I don't care about Hodgson because he's lost my trust. He's an outdated dinosaur who uses the same tired clichés every interview after another failed finals tournament.

I don't care about most of the players. However, a lot of them are played out of form, out of position, in a dubious system and just because they play for a certain few teams I suppose it's not really their fault they play mediocre football. Apparently Shelvey played DM yesterday? Christ. Was bad enough when Wilshere is asked to play there.

Above all else, it stops the football matches happening that I ACTUALLY care about...namely club football.

Thoughts?

It's bloody awful, we play so much dross that it does not really help us when it comes to the major tournaments, it's all rather pointless. As for the the international break as a whole, I sort of enjoyed watching the rise of Wales and seeing their progress in these qualifiers. They have a clear plan and seem to have a great team ethic, while England are still a bunch of individuals.

Yup, couldn't give a fack about the national team.

We have some decent players in our side, but they either look like they can't be arsed because they don't want to be there or they play as individuals rather than collectively as a team. Sometimes it can be both.

The manager is also part of the issue. A conservative, archaic manager with dour tactics. Capello was the same in some respects. We need to inject more flair and encourage free-flowing attacking football into the team, but in order to that, the players need to be driven enough to want to play like that and they don't have that mindset in the current set-up because of our current and previous managers.
 
I do find England very boring to watch. They do need a more exciting new manager in to get the players more enthused. If you're going to lose then at least be entertaining.

I'm impressed by how Wales is playing at the moment. They play good football and with plenty of passion. Hoping Wales goes through and lights up the Euros!
 
I love the international breaks as then we have no club football to worry. We can relax, go the beach here in Mallorca, garden, take the dogs out (they were frustrated the week before last as I was consumed by the World Athletic Championships).

Perhaps we should scrap International Football because who really on here gives a damn. It would enable players of all clubs to get a longer rest than is the situation at present. For example, when did Sanchez last have a proper break from the game?

Just wait for the Rugby World Cup when the Welsh anthem is sung with absolute passion and really does make the eyes water. Pity one of England, Oz or Wales
will not get out of the group phase.

I think England will have more success at the Rugby World Cup than their footballing counterparts will in the Euros next summer. Conversely, the Welsh could enjoy more success in the same tournament than their more illustrious neighbours.

PS I'd like Israel to qualify and go far in the tournament, not that I am Israeli or have anything to do with that country but I just like teams like Israel, and Wales for that matter to beat the big bas*****.
