We have a very good GK although only for one more season, we need one centre back, we certainly don't need a combative midfielder, we don't really need another winger, we do need one more striker.

Not sure why we signed Rojo, I can only assume he was bought to play left of a 3 in a 3-5-2 which simply didn't work so he's not fit for purpose now. He's a good left back and a decent centre half but he's also a mistake waiting to happen. Di Maria just didn't fancy the PL, he winced at every tackle and basically gave up! Fellaini was a mistake. Mata is a wizard but has to play as a 10 in my opinion. Who knew Falcao would be so ****?

It's not all bad though! I think Schwein has been excellent in the games he's played in so far. Shaw has been outstanding so far this season. Darmian and Schneiderlin have been very good. Depay has bags of raw talent but will need time to adjust to the PL. Herrera is a very good player. Every squad needs a Blind.

Every club makes transfer mistakes. Balotelli, Moreno, Lovren, Lallana, Markovic. They pile up!

It's the lack of an overall plan that's surprising.

Fergie was usually pretty good in the market... he signed players that would perform for him over several seasons usually... United rarely recycled players like we do... he built a squad so well. That just seems gone now.

Did he? Find me a German he did sign.

I honestly don't have anything against him - I even respect him for his support of the Labour party - I just found it interesting that he never signed a single German player in almost 30 years at Man U. There are reports of him saying some unflattering things about Germans, but that is pure conjecture.

Also, I have to applaud you, Tobes, for often being a source of reason and interesting points in the face of some overwhelming (at times) backlash. :)

I'd never noticed that about Fergie... I suppose the players he might have wanted - Lahm, Ballack, Klose etc were always unavailable for one reason or another... but it is interesting.

I guess one thing we overlook as fans is the language barrier factor in signing foreign players.

I doubt that many English speakers could understand Fergie. Having him throw random objects at you was probably enough of a hint that you needed to improve.

No point obsessing about what ex players are doing at other clubs. Sometimes transfers just don't work out. I suspect Di Maria will do well for PSG as he's a very good player. Doesn't change the fact that in the second half of last season he was dogshite for United and clearly wanted to be somewhere else so getting rid was the only option. However, I'm sure we'll be notified every time he scores or assists a goal!

We still own Balotelli though

You dumped £40m into Falcao and Di Maria with nothing to show for it [HASHTAG]#brewstersmillions[/HASHTAG]

Going to be even funnier next season when I get to talk about how much you lost on Martial

We have Champions League football to show for it. Nothing to do with Falcao, a little bit to do with Di Maria.

Good to know that you're pleased a Liverpool player is performing well for AC.

No doubt when we finish in the CL spots and you're celebrating another Europa League qualification you will claim the season as a victory as long as Martial hasn't had a stormer.

The reality is we can shrug off a Martial failure whereas every Lallana, Markovic, Lovren and Balotelli makes that 80's bandwagon jump even more regrettable.

And assisted two <ok>
Friendly= Doesn't count. News outlets are the only people who think they do, but they don't.

.
Hasn't played for AC yet this time round (friendlies don't count), so saying 'is performing' is premature.

Hell if he does play well, hopefully AC will pony up the money, but they are an Italian club so thats unlikely even if Balotelli were to become Messiesque.

And the odd supporter when their teams wins well or some new midfielder looks like the new Zidan

They've said he's overweight too - what happened to the super LFC fitness staff keeping everyone on individually tailored programmes - unless Mario's included eat more, work less.

He pays ****-all attention to anything anyone tells him to do.

Both of these, plus I don't think he was doing much training exactly towards the end of the season and over the summer, and he certainly wasn't keeping in shape on the pitch as he wan't playing ever <laugh>

It's being reported Utd only paid £6.5m for Schweinsteiger, based on the sell on cut the first team he signed for received, unless of course they have been shortchanged.

Did you know his name translates as pig climber/controller

Yeah. We discussed that a year or so ago. Broken down literally it means one who mounts pigs.

A more accurate translation of not literal is pig farmer.
I believe that an Austrian dialect variation has Steiger as chaser, or womaniser by extension.
Pigchaser sounds good.
