Several games this weekend, some involving our own players.
At this risk of kicking off on a slightly sour note, Tettey got booked for Norway last night and Scotland have just lost 1-0 in Georgia.
Still Wes and Laffs to go, assuming they play, but against Gibraltar and the Faroes, respectively, so both games should be pretty academic victories for the Irish sides.
    We shall see.

Watching Wes, have no interest in any of these internationals, just love watching Wes. He's gonna have a field day today.

Didn't realise Gibralter's manager, was a goalkeeping coach at Norwich during out promotion to Prem under Lambert

Phew, a narrow lead for the Republic.

It's always difficult against these top European teams...

Is it a little odd that Gibraltar are playing their 'home' tie against Rep of Ireland in Faro, Portugal, when both Malaga and Sevilla are closer?
Or maybe it's me, always looking for a conspiracy theory, that 'hidden agenda' ? :emoticon-0112-wonde

I think it's odd Gibraltar are even playing in a European Qualifier.

Same reason, I suppose, that Spain and Gibraltar were kept apart in the draw.

    Oh, so you're saying there's no sub-plot.
No subterfuge, bias, bungs, nothing devious or under-handed at all?
    That's just so boring!

Walters had a hand in two of ROI's goals. Just saying.

Lafferty scores for Northern Ireland, to make it 3-1. As results stand, a win in Monday against Hungary guarantees them qualification.

We probably did make a cheeky bid - 76p, a bag of Pork Scratchings, 20 Woodbines and a £20 voucher to be spent at Yellows.

<laugh> Go in low, it's the Norwich way!

Pleased for NI, they've done well so far. No wins for former winners Greece in that group. Is it maybe that they can't afford football boots?

Is it just coincidence that Martin plays CB for them.

Absolutely, odd mand stupid. Players, managers et al moan about too many fixtures and so on and then we plump up the qualification process by these mickey mouse games. Let San Marion, Gibraltar, Isle of Wight and God knows who else have a tournament and only the winner of those 6 or 8 teams gets a place in a qualifying group. It is too daft for words really. IMO.

Add Liechtenstein and Faroe islands to that list and you've got a deal <ok>
But seriously, that's exactly what they do in cricket - the 'associate' nations, i.e. non test playing countries like Scotland, Denmark, Namibia etc have pre-qualifiers and the winner of those goes through to the main event.
If anything, it makes it fairer for players and fans, as San Marino vs Gibraltar may well be quite a tight game. Whereas San Marino vs England, for example, could and should be a double figure pasting - even though we're not currently as good as Wales :emoticon-0106-cryin
