Watching the start of The Strain Season 2 which offers a unique perspective of vampirism as a virus. New York is under attack from a huge vampire epidemic and a small group of disparate people team up to fight for survival and try and clear the blight once and for all. The vampires are vile, ugly zombie-like creatures, which is how I prefer them over how they're portrayed in many other vampire related dramas and films where they're charasmatic and seductive.
Enjoyed Black Sails Season 1 which is a ripping Pirates tale set around the pirate stronghold of Nassau, Barbados where a Captain Flint is looking to plunder his way to increadible wealth by capturing and looting one of the Spanish fleet's finest galleons 'the Urca Major' . It's nothing like Pirates of The Caribbean, which I also liked for different reasons, but is more gritty, brutal and realistic plus contains more adult themes. Incidentally Season 2 is now available on DVD so will pick it up on amazon after writing this.
Looking forward to The Last Kingdom which is a new drama series, and Game Of Thrones contender, starting next month on BBC2 (I think). It's set in this country in the Dark Ages around the 9th century when the vicious pagan Vikings were raiding, pillaging and invading their way through our fine, pious lands. Having read the first couple of books of The Warrior Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell, which is what this first season is based on, I'm really looking forward to see how it converts to TV.
